ONE MINUTE REVIEW #1 (ZPACKS NERO BACKPACK)

 10 oz. Black Friday for $180. Will this pack be enough to carry my kit for up to 3 day hikes?  I’m moving more and more sub 9 lb (sub 8 in warm weather) Lighterpack listing below. Anyone have an ultralight hammock camping with 40 liter or below??  On the upside Zpacks has a variety of accessories to expand your packs capabilities so I think I’m good but would love to hear some opinions

. it’s heavier, but the comfort is unreal. My perfect do anything pack: an Atmos with the new Aether style of backpanel. Like not quite as stripped down as the Aether Pro, but just a bit closer fit than the springboard on the Atmos and a little more comfortable above 40 pounds

I backpack a bunch. One AT thru hike and a bunch of other stuff. Here are the backpacks I have used so far.

1. Osprey Talon 44. Still don't understand why this is not a more used ultralight pack. It was my pack for 2190 miles. It was trashed, I am not sentimental, I threw it away after my thru hike.
2. On the last 170 miles of the Long Trail I used the Granite Gear Vapor Trail 60 limited edition. Bought it because it was cheap. It worked well but wanted to get lighter. I let a friend borrow it a few months ago don't know if I will get it back or use again.
3. Gossamer Gear G4-20. Used it 14+ nights so far replaced the back pad with Various CCF pads. Worked well but not 5+ days or during the winter because of lack of frame. I still own this and will use again for everything 3 season less than 3 or 4 days.
4. Just ordered a HMG 3400 Southwest. I am thinking great winter and 5+ day pack and good for places you need a bear can.

What is the best backpack? My history.

 The blue kind of offset on the green didn't really look right to me, even flipped inside out. so I just ordered a green one. keep my trekking pole typically in one of the side pouches and I used the top closure to hold that trekking pole in place. I don't always use my trekking pole while I'm hiking, but I do need it to set my tarp up so it is something that I will be carrying on every trip for the foreseeable future

 TV - Jonesy did a video about his preferred way of closing the top of that. so I'm gonna give that a go first and see how I like that. I do have a trip coming up here pretty soon, so I'm looking forward to actually getting this thing out on trail and getting some some good miles on it and and seeing how these modifications work. So I'll probably end up doing a follow-up video on this one and there's a couple of other things I may change on the pack as well

 The side pockets work very well with Smart Water Bottle and reach them while you're hiking. So I definitely like the side pockets. I Love that it has all the attachment points options to add and use things on the shoulder straps. So I've added a small zipper pouch here for carrying you know, snacks and chapstick things like that very hand sanitizer right up here on the top one of my water bottles here

 I do have a trip coming up here pretty soon, so I'm looking forward to actually getting this thing out on trail and getting some some good miles on it and and seeing how these modifications work. So I'll probably end up doing a follow-up video on this one and there's a couple of other things I may change on the pack as well. we'll see. so if you have any questions or comments, drop them in the box below

Women's 30L UL Pack?

 This is about as light as it gets. so this is the Z-packs Nero 38 liter. The 38 liters also includes these pockets, so it's not just the uh, I believe these account for eight of the leaders, so it's a 30 liter on the inside. And then if you count the two sides, which I believe are two liters each in this pack which is considered four liter carry, that's where you get your 38 liters from

 You have to have some lightweight stuff. This thing is only ready to carry about 20 pounds. Anything over 20 pounds becomes, uh, pretty uncomfortable because it doesn't have the support system. It's got very thin straps, it has virtually no waste strap and so you have got to make sure that you are backpacking with very little weight

 That has been super more better. That's not a good way of putting, but it's been way better for me than having my wet weight sink all the way in on my hips. Just keeping it tight and to the top and being able to release these just to get some airflow in has been a much more comfortable carry for me, especially with the water kind of pulling some of that weight forward. Um, so that has been something that I would not go back on

 When I first got it, I wasn't sure how much I would like it or how it would perform over several trips, but I have really come to like going with the smaller backpack. I wasn't sure I was used to a 60 liter backpack and I didn't know how to be going scaling down all the way to a 38 liter, but it has been super easy for me. I will say I have the correct gear for it. You do have to have the gear

* Get rid of the soap and towel and just bring a handkerchief for any toweling off or wiping down you might need. Also, just use water or wetwipes instead of soap out there, if you need it at all.

* You won't need bear spray for this trip, but to each their own. I've been hiking in Virginia for the past few months and have yet to even see a bear (to my disappointment).

* Switch your bag later down the line for something lighter. I have a few bags, but for shorter hikes like this I prefer either the GG G4-20 or the Zpacks Sub-Nero. That will shave off a couple pounds. 

* You can also probably ditch the sunscreen and the matches since you have a lighter and most of the trail is covered by trees.

I am getting ready to hike the Virginia Triple Crown and am looking for a way to shed weight.  This will be my first hike in Fall (coolish) weather and am looking for ways to shave some weight.  Thanks ahead of time for any help.

Gear Shakedown - Virginia Tripe Crown

 I mean, that's that's very low. So anyway, it is a very rudimentary basic pack, but it's very effective. It's it. Doesn't need to be flashy, it doesn't need to have lots of bells and whistles

 So they have pack covers and everything that Zpac sells in order to protect us a little more, but under general circumstances it probably wouldn't soak all the way through. or if you pack your backpack right it would be okay. So it's got this roll top enclosure and I have some stuff in here to kind of show you what it looks like with volume in it. A little bit different feature on this roll top so you can do the classic roll and then buckle like a lot of like a classic dry bag would be

 for being so small, they're actually really strong, so don't worry about that aspect. These packs, in my experience, are extremely durable considering how light they are. so I haven't I haven't taken this thing canyoneering or mountaineering or anything like that, just day hikes at this point. [Applause] it's I haven't had the opportunity to use my ultra light

 But I would imagine when I'm doing longer backpacking trips depending on where I'm at a lot of the time I would carry a gallon of water. I like to have basically a whole day's worth of water a lot of the time. But if you're hiking around creeks and streams and you only need to carry one liter at a time, that really reduces that overall weight. So yeah, a whole gallon you're You're going to be working with just about half of the, uh, I suppose the weight carrying capacity of this backpack
