AKG N700NC M2 vs Sony WH-1000XM4

Although they have a slightly bass-rich sound profile, their extra thump and warmth don't bloat or muddy the rest of your mixes. Vocals and lead instruments are still clear and accurately reproduced, but if the extra bass is still a deal-breaker, you can fine-tune their sound using their app's parametric EQ and presets.

So my first pair of headphone I got were the beats wireless studio, I recently decided it’s time for an upgrade and I had bough the Sony WH-1000XM4 and I love the wireless and battery life about it. I also like the noise canceling but once I started listening to it more I could tell they sounded ok but I wanted better sound. What are the best sound quality headphones for under 400$?

I'm not sure what Razer was thinking with their ANC tuning. It doesn't even sound that bassy, just veiled, because of the low midrange also being raised. A charitable explanation would be that it was intended to compensate for the effects of pad wear, but headphones such as the aforementioned N700NC M2 show that the problem is avoidable by dynamically adjusting bass boost based on seal instead.

And the ANC (active noise cancelling) was AMAZING. I could be sitting right next to a whole house fan and not hear it. I was blown away. RANGE: Twice during the day I tried walking around while on a call

Comfort: I wear these for hours straight and haven't found them uncomfortable or heavy. Software Support: Not terrible but not great. For some reason, the "Headphone Connect" app (which is used to more finely control and configure these headphones) is only available on your phone; there is no desktop version. Within the app you can change the equalization profile, change what the general purpose button does (Google Assistant or Noise Cancellation mode), and update the firmware (UI for doing this isn't straightforward and buggy)

If you need a closed headphone for home, you have other options that sound technically better for much cheaper like the EMU Teak. I guess this competes favorably with the Campfire Audio Cascade, but the Cascade has such a unique, bassy sound that I don’t see the Aeon capturing much of that market. I think the Aeon takes the middle ground so staunchly and fails in performing at its price level that I’ll be shocked if this doesn’t depreciate as the original Aeon does. This is, at best, a $400 headphone priced at $900

However, at a price point of $500 Canadian (with all these issues) I can't say they're the best at this time. So if you're thinking of buying these XM4's, my advice would be to just wait it out. Let Sony roll out a few patches, while you stay current with these threads to see if any actual improvements are made. Thanks for taking the time to read

AKG's N700NC M2 Wireless headphones may not roll off the tongue, but at $299 they cost far less than the Bose pair and deliver a stronger sound signature, with wonderful balance and more realistic bass. In terms of ANC, Bose still has the edge, but AKG is no slouch. So if audio performance is more important to you than noise cancellation, but you want both, these headphones are a compelling option.

So I currently own a pair of Bluetooth Sony WH-1000XM4's that I mainly take with me to work and just wear at all times of the day when needed. Noise cancelling is excellent on them and the audio feels so close, intimate and clear, from YouTube videos to music. They might be the best headphones I've ever used.

So why would I buy headphones that cost almost 200 bucks?!? Not sure what happened but at some point, the older headphones got uncomfortable to wear and started digging into my skull. I bought the N7000's hoping the investment would be my last and because of confidence in Samsung products (I also have a Galaxy) and they'd be comfortable to wear, sight unseen. They came in a fancy box and had some basic cables and attachments. I would not need any of these except for the charging cable because, again, I only need to use them with my TV

It appears that it would protect the headphones and hold up well with travel. A 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable is included

Callers said they could hear me well and I had no trouble hearing them. I also had no trouble pairing and re-pairing with an iPhone X and Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus. I experienced minimal Bluetooth glitches during my week or so of testing.I experienced solid battery life

My second pair didn't clack but made those other noises. For $250 (on sale) I expect the materials to be top notch and not make noise just because I move (the Bose and JBL didn't have this flaw). The battery life was okay, better than the Bose but I use my headphones daily for my commute and the gym so I had to charge them once a week. My old non-ANC headphones had 40 hour battery life and lasted me weeks so in comparison that was a let down

GEN-1 have bigger space inside cup and the lessor clamping force make it unreasonably comfortable in a long session, even though I know I had to hold my head for drinking water. CM2 comes with a smaller cache pack. Yes, GEN-1 pack is bulky and I can feel it in my back pack. However I think GEN-1 pack is more premium and actually can protect the headset better

These are by far some of the most comfortable headphones I've ever used. The noise canceling is top notch in every environment I've needed to use them (mostly the office with an open concept, and airplane travel), which means I can listen to music or other content at a reasonable volume with full clarity. Having them paired to my computer and phone at the same time is a great convenience that will be a requirement when I replace them eventually. I use them for ~8+ hours a day, Monday - Friday, with minimal ear fatigue

I opened a warranty claim and replied to the subsequent email only to be told that my units are out of warranty and that "A local service center may be able to order parts and repair it. However, the cost for parts and labor can exceed the price of a brand-new replacement." So they offered me a 35% discount on a new pair. So yeah, I guess it's my fault for not returning these things immediately after I noticed the cheap plastic cracking

If you're under warranty, you're golden (they'll offer to fix or a discounted upgrade). If not, you're forced to operate with miniature tools under a magnifying glass to bend the button contact points to maintain constant connectivity to the board. My QC35's were months out of warranty & I was SOL.
