 I captured it on video. There is no adverse behavior after initial flickering. This is not a touch screen laptop.  Benchmark for this laptop also supports my findings

 We just need to get bigger storage for the updates and games. I have captured the benchmarks from Novabench in the pictures. it is just slightly better than most midgrade gaming laptops. But fails significantly in comparison to the high end laptops

  It took about 2 hours 15 minutes to charge the battery from 0. this is while the PC is on and in use. with a full battery, I was able to use the laptop for close to 5 hours.  Bottom line

Solid Midrange Gaming laptop at an affordable price.

 This laptop costs so much because it has all the best (ie, most expensive) tech. Top CPU, top CPU, top DRAM, top gaming HD screen, etc.  ++Good brand. Alienware has always been held in esteem

 This is known and not a strength of gamer laptops. I get about 60-90 minutes batter life on this Alienware m15. So this is not a couchsurfer of coffee shop email reader. The battery is most handy as safety backup for power outages, etc

.  What I like: ++The Best Tech to run all the latest stuff. This laptop costs so much because it has all the best (ie, most expensive) tech. Top CPU, top CPU, top DRAM, top gaming HD screen, etc

 It would be more versatile for me if the battery life was longer. But, has all the best tech specs and works well to play all the latest software. You don't need this if you using your PC for just the basics. Overall 4-STAR rating by me in consideration of price/value

not your daddy's corporate windows laptop

 The 300hz screen is amazing! But make sure you have GeForce experience downloaded so you can switch off the batter saver mode which caps fps at 30 when unplugged! The rtx 3080 (even though it is the 8gb version) still blows most games out of the water, I can play cyberpunk at 90+ fps on high with rtx and dlss on.  It has plenty of ports as well, along with thunderbolt (Amazing) hdmi, mini dp, and even an alienware gpu amplifier (not sure why, but why not!).  Overall in today's market, with how hard tech is to aquire, this isn't a bad laptop. It's pluses are amazing while its shortcomings aren't great, this is still a great buy

 So weigh the pros and cons, and if you pull the trigger, this won't do you any wrong!

 I was able to get better temps by going into the fx software and selecting the overclock 2, it lowered about 5° which is noticeably better, but I still needed to put it on a cooling pad as it was making my lap a little uncomfortable when it hot up to temp.  2) The ram isn't upgradeable, should be at this point (soldered into mobo) but 32gb should be more than enough for any laptop user, making it pretty future proof at the moment.  3) the price.

  3) the price... msrp $2650+ before tax and it isn't even running the 16gb RTX 3080 model which the asus, msi and razer do around that price point, or a bit more(usually with a 16gb ddr4 configuration, so alienware wins that dept)

HIGH END BEAST! But....

 It's about a 3rd the size of the laptop and weighs more than some laptops I've owned. It's far and away the largest power brick I've seen for anything and 2-3x the size of even large notebook power bricks.  Screen: The screen on my model is a disappointing 1080p resolution. In order to get high frame rates, they seem to have resorted to a lower resolution screen

 There is almost nothing portable about this laptop and I'd say unless you absolutely must have a gaming laptop, you should get a desktop instead.  Power Brick: The power brick is insanely large. It's about a 3rd the size of the laptop and weighs more than some laptops I've owned. It's far and away the largest power brick I've seen for anything and 2-3x the size of even large notebook power bricks

This Alienware has a lot of performance packed into a laptop package but it does it with at the cost of noise, weight, space and build quality. My previous laptops have been MacBooks and while they aren't great for gaming, they are well built and portable. Alienware puts in a lot of performance and ports but this comes with a lot of sacrifices. I prefer a desktop for gaming and a laptop for things I need to do on the road

  It’s a slightly different review, but I successfully used a Thunderbolt/SVGA connector to add an external monitor – and Win 10 lets you easily swap monitor configurations. A large monitor might be in your plans as the panel laptop monitor quality is average, IMO.  It’s a heavy laptop, and the power supply is positively massive – not something you toss in a lightweight backpack and go. But if the specs work for you, and gaming is your primary thing, go for it

Mixed Bag, compared to my other machines

  Screen, 1080P. Yes, outdated 1080P. Recently most high end laptop equipped with touch screen, with 2K even 4K. BUT, this one is ) 300Hz 3ms 300-nits 100% sRGB color gamut

 Either way it is very hard to upgrade the RAM. 2 X16GB hynix, running at 30GB/s read, and 28GB/s write, latency 60ns. Good enough for most users.  GPU 3080 is the top one, with 8GB DDR6, there is nothing to complain about

  Battery, 87WH, fully charging time 2.5H. video streaming about 6H. The thing is if you video streaming, you don't use the high power consumption GPU, I would say don't have a high exception for the battery life when gaming

 Even faster than most ethernet cable.  SSD: 1TB, but from a glance of the mother board, you can insert one other full length nvme, and another half length nvme. From pm9a1 Samsung, this one is the most new Gen4 nvme ssd The speed test shows it could do 1.9GB/s sequential writing and 878MB/s deep queue 4K random IO

RAM, 32GB, I didn't see extra slots at the back of the mother board, assuming they are either on the other side or not upgradeable

 The only real issues I have with the computer are hardware issues aside from the performance.  PROS : - Incredible CPU performance. This computer will handle anything without blinking. It's a tank

 "Default" covers most of your needs, but if you're doing something that will stress the computer a bit it's good to switch to performance. - Comes with Windows 10 OS. It's alright. Gets the job done

I've owned this computer for about a year and a half, and I am more than happy with it. The Omen 15 is an absolute beast and will most likely be able to handle anything you throw at it, so if you're looking for hardware that will support you without any CPU restrictions, then the Omen is a great choice. I cant decide which laptop is best

There's little to dislike about the Omen 15. It could use a second storage drive, and it is more expensive than your average GeForce GTX 1660 Ti notebook. But this notebook meets or exceeds expectations for a mid-2020 mid-level gamer everywhere else.

42 pounds, it registered a more acceptable 4.6 pounds on my scale, about the norm for gaming notebooks in this class.
