For $800, I would look at something like a manual hand grinder ($160-$250) and a bambino plus with a non-pressurized basket ($400) or just go for something like the barista express all in one machine, which isn’t the best but from what I understand you basically have to dial it in by adjusting your dose as the grinder steps are not convenient enough.

5 cups at the 6 oz. standard per day with occasional doubling up. I run a very fine grind by preference through an immersion dripper (currently using a Bonavita purchased here) and my roast taste runs from dark to "from the shriveled bowls of hell" also known as "smokey". I'm happenstance about my unit maintenance, I've probably taken it apart and cleaned it out an average of every 6 months or so

I wanted to share my grinder upgrade experience and my new appreciation for grind quality. It turns out when I thought I was making a decent cup of coffee wasn't even close to what it should be. I had been using an OXO conical burr grinder for some time and had my V60 routine adjusted to my liking, even though the draw down times were relatively long at around 4:00 - 4:30 (typically 25g to 450g ratio) depending on the roast and grinder setting. I knew there were a lot of fines but just learned to adjust my recipe to get the taste I wanted

Firstly, I use this machine MAINLY for making espresso grinds, (on the last highest FINE setting), and usually one or two at a time. So my review will be set around the expectations in this task. I used to work in a coffee shop and make 30 espresso's every morning, so while this is my first grinder i've purchased, it is definitely not my first time at the grinder rodeo. My thanks to other reviewers -- whose comments regarding the wide selection of coffee mills enabled me to make the fortunate selection of theCapresso 560 Infinity Conical Burr Grinder, Brushed Silver, 8.5-Ounce . Having used it almost every day for several weeks, I find hardly anything negative to say about this unit (but see below), but the scope of this review does not extend to making espresso or other brews requiring special types of beans or especially fine grounds. I see a thousand ways the product designers could have more easily solved this problem, but I guess they didn’t ask me. I “single-dose” my coffee brews, meaning I weigh my beans with a scale, just enough to brew one cup - 22g beans for 350ml water if it’s just me - then dump them in the hopper and grind only that amount per grind. The 22g of beans barely coats the bottom of the hopper; it probably has capacity to hold 300g or more at a time. If your brewing method is not sensitive to precision, you can ignore this paragraph
