Deuter Aircontact 50 + 10 SL Women's Internal Frame Backpack

 The shoulder straps are already coming apart along the stitching in one place and look pretty worn out after one trip. And there were a couple of moments on the trail where I had a hard time getting the hip belt buckle to snap into place - at one point I actually thought it had broken completely, which would have been the pits because at that point I still had a week left.

After less than four weeks of backpacking (JMT at three weeks, Pemi Loop at 4 days as a dry run from the JMT): The pack was still mostly comfortable (as comfortable as a 40+ lb pack can be), but has some durability issues that has me considering a return. A tear formed pretty quickly on the inside pocket of the pack's hood. The shoulder straps are already coming apart along the stitching in one place and look pretty worn out after one trip. Here is why I bought the pack: It felt the best on my back. Like it was an extension of my back rather than just hanging on there. It also fits a bear canister (bear vault 500) horizontal, which makes a huge difference in the comfort in carrying one of those monsters.

I did not want to buy this pack

Other than that, the pack is comfy and durable and adjusted to fit me well even though I'm short (5'2" - see photo for scale). It's a little big for day hikes, but it's perfect for multi-day trips. An included rain cover and/or removable day pack would've been nice, but that wasn't a huge dealbreaker for me.

My only complaints would be the back panel and chest strap. The back panel wasn't as breathable as I would have liked. My back got a bit sweaty after walking ~10 minutes from the train to my airbnb. The chest strap also dug into my sternum and would leave a mark so I ended up unbuckling it a lot of the time, although this might just be a personal problem since I have a small chest

First pack, not disappointed

  In the end had to go with comfort. Every"body" is different. Just glad to be able to work with the experts at REI.

 Unfortunately, I had to go for another brand, the Osprey Aura 65 because I have issues with weight around my shoulders. The latter had a little more cushion in that area, but so liked the the Deuter too.  In the end had to go with comfort. Every"body" is different

 Above that there's a hydration sleeve hung inside where you can route. The reservoir hose to either side shoulder and there's hip pockets down below for access to snacks on the outside the front, stretchy pocket holds your wet rain jacket and water bottles can be stored on the sides. The compression straps secure your load or they can hold tent poles. The sleeping pad straps are nice and burly, and the two loops and bungees keep your trekking poles out of the way when you're not using them

Fantastic pack so far, durable and impressive packing options. First time backpacking in many years and truly impressed with the pack geometry and feel for the reasonable price.

 So it gives you all of the load hauling capability. It'S going to transfer the weight right to your hips, but it's also going to have a little bit of flexibility to keep you comfortable on the trail and the pack can move with you. So that's a really nice feature. You'Ve also got a foam back panel there

 Moving down the pack here, you have some other features where you've got kind of panel access into the pack, and you have a big u-shaped zipper down here which allows you access towards the bottom and the middle of your pack, and this is a really great pocket. It'S a really great zipper. This makes it great for travel as well, so it opens up almost like a piece of luggage where you can get to the items inside your pack and then down to the bottom. You have a separate sleeping bag compartment and you do have a zipper in between this lower compartment in the upper compartment

 You can't see it, but there's basically two stays that cross over each other. Instead of having stays that go up and down the ones that form an X pattern are going to give a lot of flexibility to that pack. So it gives you all of the load hauling capability. It'S going to transfer the weight right to your hips, but it's also going to have a little bit of flexibility to keep you comfortable on the trail and the pack can move with you

 So as you're packing with this packets, it's definitely going to going to keep you comfortable behind your back and then down here on the hip belt. You also have plenty of padding women's specific hip belt and lots of mesh there as well. The load lifter straps, are a little more interesting than some others. You do have two points of adjustability

 We've got a few extra compartments here. This is the dentist Pork burrito and this is the egg roll version. Looks a little bit like bacon and egg. They're real little bacon straps in here which is fun and then we're gonna egg on the outside so these little bacon straps you can put the cables and stuff in there

 now. Starting with the Super Break which is this little guy over here, this is the Super Break backpack. This is a really affordable backpack coming in at a recommended retail price of $49 Firstly, having a look at it on the exterior, this is made with a 600d polyester fabric. It's got a really good quality zips, really good quality finishings

 And then we've got these straight cut padded backpack straps here with a bit of a journal logo on there as well on the top. We've just got this grab handle here which is nice and easy if you want to pick up the bag real quick. Moving on to the inside of the super break up so it really smooth zippers, high-quality YKK zips and we're going to be the padding in here. So let me just cool

Back To School With Jansport

 The padded straps were very cushiony upon purchase but with time and heavy textbooks, they did eventually rip. If you know how to sew, it can be fixed though.
