GoPro Hero9 Black vs Insta360 One R

Accessories are insanely overpriced. Battery life is terrible. Can’t use media mod with a screen protector on the back screen. Lots of little design flaws like that

Both lenses fogged up upon using. Battery life is only about 1 1/2 hrs of continuous recording and even that is only an estimate since the recording module with it's screen keeps overheating after 17 to 19 minutes recording. While diving the camera froze 3 times while being underwater. Problem with that is that you have to go back to the surface to remove it from it's case and take off the battery module

This was not the camera for the job. Although the picture quality is excellent, everything else left much to be desired. The battery life is very short and if you do not have extras, your shoot will be severely put on hold. Image stabilization is there, but not as impressive as advertisements and commercials would have you believe

I own the R and LOVE it for photography. Amazing images, camera looks badass, dynamic range is incredible, image quality is top notch..

The lens is sharp and you can set the camera to work in Raw format if you want. It's especially appealing if you want ultra-wide shots and don't want to invest in an interchangeable lens camera or upgrade your smartphone to a model with an ultra-wide lens.

Within a few days, one of the lenses became blurry (visible lens looks okay) so half the picture in 360 is blurred out. I started the repair process with Insta360 and just received a message that due to Covid-19 their US service center is closed and I'll have to wait until further notice to begin the repair process. I can understand the complications of Covid-19, but am frustrated that I will have to wait some indeterminant amount of time for what I'm certain will end up being a simple product replacement.

Cons: *This GoPro is considerably larger and heavier than previous go pros. You are going to feel it if it is attached to your head or on a long extension. This is the price for a front LCD screen as well as improved image stabilisation I think.

Compared to the RP, the R just felt kinda hefty and the touch bar thing drove me nuts. Image quality was good but I don’t think it was significantly better than the RP for what I was shooting.
