Lenovo Legion 5 pro RTX 3070: $1959, Needs new RAM for best performance. With a 32GB RAM it costs ~$2130.

My personal list of best gaming laptops in various categories. Hopefully it’s helpful for those looking for a new laptop this year.

The L5P has already reduced in price in less than a week imagine where it will be after a month or two. Also availability will definitely improve as lenovo hopes to sell as much units as possible especially in the us & other american/european countries to equal the hype that has surrounded their gaming laptop line for 2021.

WHY YOU SHOULDN'T PURCHASE THE LEGION 5 PRO (L5P) NOW

 Its not functional. There are tons of dead spots on it plus it ghost registers 1 sometimes 2 finger inputs. I love this laptop but theres no permanent fix for the trackpad which makes the laptop underperform. Sadly im returning it this week

Run all games nicely on ultra settings. Fans keep relatively quiet to other gaming laptops. Decent thermals comparatively to other laptops.

 Sure the computer comes with the correct GPU and CPU. The description says it is at 3200mhz which it is actually at 2667mhz see screenshots. Not only that but I only got 32gbs of ram compared to the 64gbs I paid for. On top of that you remember the laptop saying 165hz refresh rate? That's actually an April Fools joke as well because both the windows setting and nvidia control panel both have it locked at 60hz and CANNOT be changed

I literally cannot watch ANYTHING without subtitles.  On the bright side if you are on a budget this can work for its purposes even if you need to put the graphics down to the lowest possible setting, but i would look into the acer nitro 5 since its currently being sold at a similar price for now

 Even after installing a new touchpad driver and that driver improving my experience, lower spec laptops just have this touchpad beat.  -Randomly lags, it lags when you click on things in browser, or just in general. It just stops and doesnt respond and you think you didnt click on something but in reality it was just lagging.  -The speakers on this laptop are terrible, I believe they are under the laptop causing everything to be of low volume

 Ive never had a touchpad this bad, the only touchpad worse than this was a 300 dollar laptop bought from walmart for my much younger siblings. Its impossible to watch anything on this laptop without subtitles, and also if you buy this make sure you buy more space for other things you want. Its not worth a 700 price tag.

If another laptop with similar specs is available, buy it instead.

The keyboard is alright and suitable for home use. However, a keyboard light is lacking. Thanks to a 1 TB 2.5-inch hard drive, there is enough storage space

 We expect a bright, contrast-rich IPS panel for a price of over 1000 Euros (~$1064). The battery runtimes are also not convincing.

Verdict

 If you need to use this on the battery for any real period of time it's not going to be ideal. Other issue which I had was they split the drives. Now, you can merge them but it takes a little work. If you don't want to download a program to combine them and you don't want split drives this probably isn't for you

Overall the speed and quality of the laptop is pretty good for some light work or gaming. Biggest issue I have with this laptop is the battery. If you need to use this on the battery for any real period of time it's not going to be ideal. Other issue which I had was they split the drives

Decent laptop but couple issues

 Fornite is a breath while running on med with constant 60 fps. The i5 core for me is simply not the i7. It can run extensively multiple browser (10 to 20) with Word document or video playing on the back. For a website developer (require running code environment, photo and video editing), this laptop is solid for a business!  SSD is not a one complete drive but two

 256 GB is not plenty, but for the low price, I will sacrifice the speed for the space (HDD). The SSD is enough for my school and work’s installations and couple games (I only have Witcher 3, Skyrim and Fallout: New Vegas).  The keyboard is satisfied for me. Being used to type in the dark, I can type without looking at the key so that backlit will just be considered a “plus”

 The lid and bezels seem not to build well. The screen was not “rock solid” but rather flimsy and soft.  NOW! The display cable seems loosen (after I get a bigger backpack for extra space for the laptop). Every time I use the laptop and open the lid, the screen will flick hard and I am afraid that it will just get worse

The media could not be loaded. It’s VALUE for Gaming!  This product is amazing for gaming on budget! Personally, this is my dream gaming laptop already for 1080p. The laptop can handle Witcher 3 on 60 fps with the lowest fps drop of to 40 fps on med setting. It runs Remastered Skyrim flawlessly on med and well on high (not always 60 fps)

 How long before it starts affecting other keys?  It sucks because it was a real pain in the butt to add a hard drive to it, tons of little screws. And now i have to remove them all and the drive to return it just because the damn keyboard sticks on a brand new laptop :(

 This laptop has a lot of flex on the part where you place your hands and i think that is a contributing factor to this stuck spacebar. But now, even without resting my hands on it the space bar is sticking. How long before it starts affecting other keys?
