Made In cookware is sold directly to consumers online in sets or individually. This 10-inch frying pan impressed testers with its even cooking, which earned an Excellent rating, and ease of cleaning. The handles are quite sturdy and stay cool to the touch while you’re making your eggs or pancakes. Its cleaning score is one notch below top-notch.

CR’s take: The 10-piece Gotham Steel set is well priced and performs well, earning Very Good ratings in all the main cooking tests: even cooking, sauce simmering, and bringing water to a near-boil quickly in the 5-quart Dutch oven. One exception is the food-release test, in which testers cook four eggs in quick succession. The eggs easily slide out of the best pans but had to be nudged out of the frying pan in this set. Handles stay cool to the touch but aren’t the sturdiest, which is in keeping with other sets in this price range. A steamer insert is included.

Made in France, Mauviel is one of the better-known brands of copper cookware. This 10.2-inch pan earns a Very Good rating in CR’s tests for cooking evenness and is average at sautéing. The handle is sturdy and stays cool to the touch. The pan is lined with stainless steel, and it’s oven-safe to 450° F. It has a lifetime warranty and, like most copper pans, it’s pricey.

CR’s take: You might know Ninja for its blenders or the Ninja Foodi multicooker. Now the brand has made a foray into other kitchen gear, like this Ninja Foodi frying pan. The pancakes we cooked were uniformly brown, earning the pan an Excellent rating in the cooking evenness test. But our fried eggs had to be nudged out of the pan. It held up well in our durability test, though some other pans do better. The handle stays cool to the touch but was only so-so in the sturdiness test.

The Nordic Ware’s surface isn’t as smooth to the touch as that of our top pick, but nonetheless, the eggs and crepes slid out of this pan with no effort. And the inner rivets are nonstick-coated, a feature many pans lack.

CR’s take: The handle on this pan can get a bit wobbly over time, but otherwise we liked the Fissler Adament Comfort Aluminum because our pancakes cooked like a dream and fried eggs slid out with nearly a nudge. And, to its credit, the handle stays cool while you’re cooking, and the pan passed our durability test with flying colors (Excellent).
