Nice Chromebook, but I Returned It

I’m trying to get back into writing after a long hiatus but my laptop is a big ol’ gaming one that I don’t enjoy writing with, so I’m in the market for something smaller and lighter that I can comfortable write with on my lap on the couch and around the house. 

I’ve decided that a Chromebook seems like the best bet because I need like two things out this laptop: word processing and web browsing. I like Docs and Chromebooks are ultra cheap compared to Windows and Mac laptops, so it seems logical to get one. I am open to any suggestions for Windows/Mac though!

The main things I’m concerned about though are physical things. I’d like a smaller screen (10-13in) because I want this thing to be ultra portable. I want to be able to throw it in any bag and take it with me wherever, and if I’m just carrying it I’d like it to be as light and thin as possible so it’s comfortable to just hold in one arm. I assume a smaller screen is just necessary to that. 

Outside of that I’m sadly concerned with aesthetics lol. I like metal, not plastic, or at least a premium plastic feel. I’d love for it to have a great keyboard so it feels nice to type on. 

I love the look of the Pixelbook Go but I can’t justify spending that much more just for a laptop to write with and browse the web. I love the size and idea of a Lenovo Duet, but I need that clamshell keyboard so I can write on my lap and I for sure cannot do that with its keyboard and kickstand.

So: light, thin, premium-ish feel, and small laptop under $500 that’s easily portable and writes well on my lap. Any recommendations?

Cheap (under $500), light and ultra portable Chromebook for a writer?

 I have had no issues with speed or video playback Netflix and Youtube with 5 other windows open, Amazon shopping, Ebay Browsing and research portals open. It is a very good Chromebook, and for the money i would almost place it in the Great category.

 The processor is very good and I had the 3450, not the 4200, at $339.00 this is a banging Chromebook! If super screen is not your need, then this is as fast as I can Imagine anyone who is not a "power user"needing. It is a very good Chromebook, and for the money i would almost place it in the Great category

Great for the Money! IMO it is the best value going in Chromebook today.

So far I am not impressed! There's no delete! I followed the directions for how to delete, but it didn't work. I called Amazon. They said they'd call the manufacturer and both the manufacturer and Amazon would follow up with me. I didn't hear a thing from either😡 This thing is useless if I can't delete

I&#39;ve recently started looking into Chromebook as my next main daily driver and I&#39;m hoping to keep this until its death. I&#39;m deciding between these two and I&#39;m not sure which one to choose. Below are the specs: 

Acer Spin 713 (Renewed on Amazon) for $549.00CAD 
i3-10110U - 8GB Memory - 128GB eMMC Storage 

Lenovo Chromebook Flex 5 (Renewed on Amazon) for$399.00CAD 
i3-10110 - 8GB Memory - 128GB 

My main priority is functionality (i.e., I move between bedroom to kitchen table to my car so it has to be pretty sturdy when going from laptop form to tablet form). I would use my Airpods to listen to the computer when working so speakers don&#39;t really matter to me. I don&#39;t really mind the bulkyness of the laptop. It would be nice if I could use an external monitor to extend the screen and do more work (idk if this matters but oh well) 

I&#39;m not a heavy software user (i.e., games or video editing). My main use of it would be for research, typing and YouTube videos. I tend to have 5-10 tabs open on an easy day and I&#39;m about to start a course soon so I need a good laptop for school hence why I&#39;m going for an 8GB RAM. My ecosystem is google-based (i.e., google drive, google calendar, google home mini, etc) so it&#39;s why I&#39;m leaning more towards a Chromebook than a Window-based laptop. I would also like to get back to photography so running Lightroom would be really nice but if either of these can&#39;t run them, it&#39;s okay 

I went to nearby electronic stores to try them out but didn&#39;t find them so I just tried other Acer and Lenovo Chromebook available and I seem to like the typing feeling for Lenovo. The touchpad for the Acer seemed off to me which was kind of disappointing but I could probably just get a wireless mouse. From my own research, Acer seems to be a good and popular choice, including the fact that it&#39;s a 3:2 ratio (idk if it would make a massive difference to me. I watched a YouTube video from an Acer 13 and it looked normal). But I&#39;ve also heard that Lenovo makes sturdy laptops and they&#39;ve been making 360 laptops for a very long time so they have that factor down 

What are your thoughts? What are your experiences with them? Thank you in advance!
