I had that MB115 absolutely maxed and I couldn't hear a damn thing, meanwhile I've never had to put the 500 above 45% ish and it sounds much better. * Music type matters. If you're playing rock or anything heavier or louder, you're going to need to add some gain through overdrive/fuzz/distortion, the flats are just too mellow on their own.

I’ve heard great things about the Aguilar 500 tone hammer and it’s on my list of maybe my next amp to try. I played Ampeg SVT for many years and liked it but I think it colors the tone into more of a boomy amped up type sound. This is a great sound for rock, Reggae, lots of things but I decided I wanted a more neutral amp and use pedals to color the tone.

There is definitely something to be said about the wide range of options when buying separate pieces. Aside from the much greater number tonal possibilities, I think using separate amps and cabs allows you to add more personality to your rig in terms of stage aesthetics. A couple years ago, I wound up ditching the Rumble and picking up an Aguilar Tone Hammer 500 and a little Bag End 1x15 cabinet (got it in the Birch wood finish which looks incredible).
