50-mile impression of the Endorphin Shift

My budget rotation (Altra Torin 4, Hoka Clifton 1 reissue, Asics Novablast v1, Sketchers Razor 3, Hoka Torrent v1)

Love shoe, cured plantar f.  for me BUT

My 2022 shoe rotation.

Very Comfortable, Not very durable

Been running consistently for the past 10 months or so... averaging around 30km per week (nothing too crazy).

My first official running pair was Nike Infinity react and I used them last year and did around 600-700kms in them. They still look okay but I was starting to feel pavement with each stride and overall cushioning was declining.

I knew I had to get new shoes. Not to mention sudden onset of knee pain, shin splits and IT band issues. Did my research and decided to try on the Hoka Clifton 7. I heard they were a bit narrow so I decided to go 1/2 size up and gave them my first try yesterday.

**Holy fuck guys. These shoes are mad comfy.** 

I may be biased because I had transitioned from a post 700km infinity but these are way more comfortable. I know these are supposed to be daily trainers with little responsiveness but I for sure felt responsiveness as I ramped up the speed.

Did 16km yesterday and was still fresh - today did another recovery run and feel good.

Just thought I'd share my cents. Anyone struggling with knee pain, IT band etc... definitely look into your form, stretching but don't ignore your shoes!!!

First time with Hokas - Wow!

Abnormal toe box and too soft cushioning

So I just recently got back into running and can't run for very long distances yet. So I've decided I wasn't going to invest too much money into shoes and stuff, cause I would do that after gaining some experience and once my endurance gets better.

So I'm running in Adidas Duramo SL. ($50). And they seem perfectly fine for my 5-10k runs.

When I'm running I've always made it a point not to heel strike. So my running style is forefoot striking.

So just out of curiosity, I visited some higher-end stores and tried on a bunch of the $150 (and above) shoes. When trying them on and jogging a bit (in them) I realized that for my style of running the differences were super-minor. But when I tried the heel-strike in the more expensive shoes, it felt like running on clouds.

Is that your experience too? And is there some type of shoe that I could get for my style of running that would be a game-changer?

And finally, heel striking seems like a pretty unnatural way of running. But so many experienced people do it, that I absolutely have no idea if it's good or bad.

What can I learn from this?
