 The AS5 has that typical amount of edge support that you'd see in almost any all-foam mattress, but the ActiveFlex foam gives it a bit more stability around its perimeter. In general, you should feel reasonably supported if you sit or sleep near the edge and you shouldn't experience too much trouble getting in or out of the bed. We also tested the open-cell foam in the mattress' BioPure foam layers. The open-cell foam is ventilated to increase a bed's airflow, while the AS5's open-cell foam in its comfort layer and support core increases its breathability and affects heat retention

 This foam is made from using plant-based oils rather than strictly petrochemicals, giving this bed a smaller carbon footprint, and this layer uses an open-cell technology to reduce the buildup of heat. Next is a 2-inch layer of polyfoam, followed by another 2-inch layer of zoned polyfoam. This layer uses what the brand calls its Hive technology, which gives the foam a variable density and firmness. How much money are you really gonna be spending on these new Amerisleep hybrid beds? So they're gonna be a little bit more expensive than the all foam models

 But due to that top layer of memory foam, it still isolates motion pretty well. So that's pretty much our thoughts on the new Amerisleep hybrid beds. We'd say looking at getting one, if you're looking for something with more of a neutral foam feel, you like the idea of the sealant cover and you want all the advantages that come with those pocketed coils, like additional support and the better airflow.  If you're getting the all foam model in a queen size after discount, you're looking at about $1,100, which makes it very competitively priced to a lot of other all foam mattresses like Casper, Lisa, and Ghostbed. If you go with the AS1 or 2, that price is obviously going to be a bit lower. And if you go with the 4 or the 5, that price is obviously going to be a bit higher. However, I do think all the Amerisleep beds are really competitively priced

 And a lot of mattress brands like to talk about their proprietary comfort foams and how special they are. But the bio pure memory foam does have some unique characteristics we should talk about. One kind of cool thing about the bio pure memory foam, the reason it's called bio pure is that it is partially plant based and most other foams are made entirely of chemicals. So when you lay down on this bio pure memory foam, you will get that nice sink in body conforming quality that you would probably expect from a memory foam

 And I think it's really nice that they have those options available. In the past, you could get the AS2 in a hybrid, but as of right now, I'm not seeing that available. So you're only going with the 3 and the 5, which is kind of unfortunate because having a firmer hybrid option, I think would be pretty valuable to a lot of people. Amerisleep is one of the only mattress brands that runs pretty much the entire spectrum of firmness

Those who are used to an innerspring mattress probably would have a hard time getting used to this although you can over time so it might just take you a little bit longer because it is a memory foam feel and those who are on a really tight budget this might be a little bit expensive.  I used to be an athlete but I'm a mom and I am crazy during the day. So to be able to come and lay down on something that's going to actually do something while you're sleeping is kind of the best thing ever because I know we moms are always multitasking so why not multitask when you sleep? So how it works is when you lay on this mattress the heat's actually going to be absorbed into the mattress and then it's going to work and react and go back into your body and produce energy. The result of this is you're actually going to have more oxygen and blood flow circulation into your body. So instead of spending hundreds of dollars at the spa go ahead and just take a rest

 So you're going to have a different zone, a little bit more support in the hip area and you're going to have a little bit softer of a region in your shoulder and leg area. This foam is also almost like an egg crate. It's got a wave to it so it's going to be breathable and it is more of a fast response. I mean you really can't feel the partner who's next to you or the dog or the kids that kind of try to crawl up inside but yes you don't feel it

 So the top layer is three inches of Biopure memory foam. It's an open cell memory foam. It is a slow response. I don't know if you guys can see that but it definitely is very slow so it's going to take time for you to sink in and it's going to provide a lot of pressure relief but it is also that open cell memory foam so it's going to be breathable

AS5 Mattress Review - Can Your Mattress Increase Circulation and Improve Recovery? (ASL)

 On top, you have that layer of bio-pure foam that is soft, easy to press into, but it gets firmer the further down you push into the mattress. Again, we have five mattress models though. If you go to the AS2 or the AS1, it's going to get firmer. The AS1, for instance, is an 8 out of 10, definitely firmer than average

 Ask for their help. Get that box inside and into your bedroom. Open up the top of the box. Take out your rolled-up mattress and place it on your frame or foundation

 Finally, with the Amerisleep AS5, base layer, you're going to have this zoned layer here as well, but between that and the bio-pure foam, another layer of responsive poly foam. On top of that, thick layer of bio-pure foam as well. Different construction between these five mattresses, but not too many major differences besides how thick the layer is on top here. Now let's talk about firmness and feel
