 Usually i'll make like a separate video like actually doing a screen recording But since this is a quick unboxing, I kind of just want to just quick look at the screen But you can see with the router Wifi settings you can see your real time traffic, you know devices connected ai mesh devices And it's like a lot of stuff you can do so you can like just manage anything So for example, you can see what's using up your megabits. Let's say you want to stream or game you can block certain things And kind of control it's just a lot more you can do with your regular. Well in my opinion the xfinity app, which is pretty cool But yeah, and then like i'm telling you guys dedicated wi-fi is easy to share Oh, yeah, if somebody wouldn't connect to it, you can easily share to them blah blah blah diagnose any security settings This is the mobile gaming i'm telling you about And then the parental controls we're looking at so it so I don't think it rocks in science just to you know Set this thing up, but I think what this will Help me do is control. Let's say I do want to stream or I do want to jump on Record a video or play online games, whatever I can at least turn certain things off or kind of control how much megabits this use and not use them a lot because we just Upgrade our internet to be a little bit more faster

Gang Speaking of asus monitors we picked up at asus um ac 2900 dual band wire wi-fi router about the wireless routers we've been using Our xfinity router forever since we got the apartment That's a standard router that xfinity gives you and you know, you get a plan with them. Whatever and we have our plan I think we have what is the 600 download speed? Uh 10 upload megabytes. I don't know. We have something we have a we have decent internet connection for you now this thing we've had this thing for a while forever actually and it's been fine, you know, it's Decent it's dual band

 So it's it's especially when you have when you do youtube you need to have a decent Um upload speed especially like that when you're streaming you should at least do 50% of what you can do So for example, if we go to obs and you go to streaming see how I have I have it at 4500 I can actually do 6000 the 6000 should be half of uh, 11.3 So we're gonna have some better streaming coming to play because i'm gonna definitely upgrade this thing to 6000 and That should up the quality in our streams coming from kimrigimgaming. I bought a budget "Gaming" Wifi Router | ASUS AC2900 RT-AC86U

 It should just work.  When connected directly to the 86U, my download speed on 5Ghz WiFi across clients is about 50 percent of my upload speed, consistently. For example, I can get 300mbps upload but only about 150mbps download, sometimes less. I'm using mostly the default settings and really don't have the time or desire to tinker with random, mostly undocumented settings to figure out what the issue is or to see if changing them helps

4Ghz channels manually selected, and Smart Connect disabled. It should just work.  When connected to the AiMesh router (which is using the wireless backhaul), speed is slower as expected, but it also has a delayed feel to it. Everything takes longer to load, click something and there's a noticeable delay before it loads

 I lowered the roaming assistant to -62 instead of -70 in the professional settings to help force switching at a higher signal strength, and that seems to have helped. This forces the devices to switch at about 2 - 3 bars of signal instead of 1 - 2. This seems much better for our two routers, which are within the 10 - 15 meter range from each other. The 5Ghz backhaul connection stays at about 877

Seems powerful, but AiMesh is less than great. Not getting full speeds on 5Ghz

 You know what you're going to love most about this router? It actually had near-gigabit speeds, and it even had a strong signal at long distances between rooms, so you shouldn't have any problems in a multi-story home.  I really like the LED network monitoring so that was a deciding factor.  I am replacing an AT&T U-verse Pace gateway’s WiFi network. Due to limitations with U-verse I cannot bypass nor place the gateway in bridge mode, so since I have a static IP block I assigned a public static IP to the router. I basically recreated my existing network on the new AC2900 and all clients swapped over perfectly

Update 10/30/21 well last weekend I retired this router and replaced with a nighthawk RAX200. The ASUS router was continually dropping 2.4 band devices (smart switches, sprinkler controller) and would require hard rebooting (unplug) every few days to a week. Rather than continue with that I replaced it

 Due to limitations with U-verse I cannot bypass nor place the gateway in bridge mode, so since I have a static IP block I assigned a public static IP to the router. I basically recreated my existing network on the new AC2900 and all clients swapped over perfectly.  The reason for the change from the AT&T gateway; I was experiencing low signal inside the house to the point where the gateway app detected the weak signal and had an extender ordered and sent to the house. Plus we were having devices kicked off the network requiring network reboot in some instance to restore WiFi, this was mainly on the WiFi extender for security cams

 Ping went from 21 to 12-14 now. I tested areas in the yard and also see dramatic improvement in signal coverage and network speeds, even through our exterior block walls. So far I’m very pleased with the signal and speed throughout the various test spots in and out of the home. We will see how long that lasts

net I ran this router up against essentially the orbi wi-fi mesh system Which I think is way more expensive than this router like that is a high-end router I've put two very high-end wi-fi systems up against each other And the clear winner in terms of ping at least is this range ping the 5 gigahertz band So far, this is very impressive and I will be putting it up against more gaming routers in the very near future Especially the netgear xr500 which I do have in this apartment So I think a future video that I will 100% be posting is this versus that netgear router and seeing which one comes out on top I kind of have my bets on this one, but we'll see what happens in the full comparison video Anyway, this video is getting a bit too long So I'm gonna have to probably end it here But I would like to give a massive thank you to acsrg for sending this out to me to check out on the channel It's actually an amazing router very good performance so far.  That might have been the problem Um Nine millisecond ping over the five gigahertz band and yeah switching to five gigahertz Was definitely the right choice here lowest ping ever Very good download speed very consistent as well. This ain't jumping about or anything. This is steady Okay, this is what we should have been doing the entire time stay home stay on five gigahertz not 2.4 As for the upload speed it's going to be terrible though

The Asus ROG GT-AC2900 RGB Gaming Router

Hi all, I’m in need of a router capable of dealing with a lot of traffic at any one time. I currently have a virgin router which allows around 10 devices to connect but if I connect any more, the internet drops and the error messages when I sign into the router are labelled critical saying the process timed out(words to that effect).

My internet download speed is sold as 200Mbps. On my PS4 I get around 168Mbps via Ethernet. Another PS4 on the WiFi gets around 60-100mbps and a laptop connected via a powerline adaptor gets 60mbps. The rest of our devices are connected via the WiFi. We have around 5 devices that either cannot connect or do connect but receive no internet.

I believe that a router capable of managing a higher volume of traffic might be the resolution but I’ve no idea where to look. I stumbled upon Mesh WiFi but I’ve no idea what it is aside from it has a positive of better range which would be handy but I don’t know if it fixes the traffic issue. 

My apologies for the long winded post

Need some guidance on routers and home networks

4 GHz network to duplicate the old one, so all the smart devices (about 60 or so) would be able to connect without me having to go through the whole house and reprogram everything for a new network.  I had thought it worked, and had my laptop on the 802.11 ax network at some blazing speeds, so I was happy. Never before was I able to copy a large 20 to 50 GB file from my laptop over the wireless to my Synology NAS before at this kind of speed

  But the fact that I just couldn't get so many smart home items working with this made it a huge frustration.  I may have to see if I can modify the google one enough to have it be nothing more than an access point on the network, so that all the smart devices can continue to connect to it, and just have this as a single other SSID and actually being the active router connected to the cable modem. That would at least let me keep using the features I wanted for the newer hardware and better parental controls, but keep my devices all functional at the same time.  Hopefully I can swing that, otherwise I'll simply have to return this and keep looking

Also it comes with something called WTFast which claims to improve ping considerably by routing through a Private Network called Gamers Private Network GPN. Has anyone used it? How effective is it?</p>
