For the Strix G17, they found a 106fps increase in CS:GO even with Optimus ON (from 241fps to 347fps), a 20fps increase in Far Cry 5 (95fps to 115fps) and bumped up the CPU Time Spy score from 9439 to 10564. That's over a 1000 point increase!

 I opened the laptop up and guess what, regular thermal paste was slathered all over everything! I promptly cleaned it up and repasted it with thermal grizzly conductonaut in order to bring temps back down to the normal 75-85c which I had expected to begin with. I would have had to rma it a second time for a few weeks to a month to get the issue resolved. Bottom line is if this laptop goes out on you just return it. Also the power brick gets extremely hot like 130 degrees F while playing games so unless you cool that with a fan chances are it’s not going to last! I like this laptop but my friend who got the Alienware r17 with the 3080 has had no issues at all and has it running 24/7

RMA after just 2 weeks

I've been reading as much as I can, but would just like some opinions. Backstory, I built my pc a few years ago with an rtx2080 and some decent gear, and it hasn't let me down. It's perfect for my play style, which is mostly for games like elite dangerous, warzone, cod, Witcher, elder rings, honestly the list is pretty eclectic past that. I have a job now that requires I travel 80% of the time, and stay for long periods on site. I've been toting this thing around for 2 years, and I gotta downsize. I'm looking for a desktop replacement, one that I can find or order from best buy to make it easy if there are any issues. I'm not a super demanding gamer at all, and I'm sure some low priced machines would do just fine. However, money isn't an issue, and I'd like to be future proofed for four years to feel alright with blowing potential thousands on a laptop. So far I'm looking at the asus rog g15 in 3070 trim, and eyeballed the alienware and legions. Just getting lost in the forums right now while comparing specs. As a side note, I'd prefer a somewhat understated machine, I'll be using it at work as well for just general file searching, and would like to keep a somewhat professional appearance, kinda why the asus's caught my eye. I apologize too, I'm not super active on reddit, so I'll try and respond in a timely manner. Thanks in advance. Also if I screwed up any rules for this forum, I apologize.

<p>I seriously appreciate all the help guys! I read all of your replies, and landed on a legion 4 pro, rtx3070, 32gb ram and 2tb hard drive for 1550 at B&amp;H. Should be here today! Thanks again, the advise was invaluable, and saved some money in the process. I had to be realistic about my uses, and decided it wasn&#39;t worth double the cost to get the fastest available machine.</p>

Sorry folks, another laptop recommendation request

 The next point bothers me the most. This is Amazon uk so I was rather disappointed when I opened the laptop to see that is was a us keyboard layout but there is nothing mentioned in the description. I know the pics show a us keyboard layout but even uk shops show the same pics but you get a uk keyboard layout. I’m so happy I didn’t pay for fast delivery cause the laptop is now being returned

..)  Only downside: it gets VERY hot. I bought a cooling pad and lowered some of the settings, but the CPU still goes as high as 85 degrees when I play recent games
