A modest set-up that leaves budget for digging through record crates to find things you love.

Could definitely do better

 Maybe the only thing that needed more guidance was the balancing of the tone arm and the anti-skate. Everything else was straightforward. I was able to do all this with just the manual. Keep in mind, this is the first time I've ever set up a TT

 There's not enough space to add that, it would have been nice to not have to rush back to lift the tone arm once a record is done playing. But you kind of know that going into this purchase that this is a fully manual turntable, can't really complain.  My current setup is AT-LPW40WN, iFi Zen Phono, Edifier R1280DBs.  As a first time TT owner, I'd have to say the decision process was the hardest part

 Pro-Ject TTs were on the top of my list, however the price, while I can afford it, do I really want to spend that much on my first go at this hobby? My wife would've probably killed me. We're down to Drop+AT VTA. I was ready to buy one, however they increased the price overnight to $400. While I liked the entire package, I didn't appreciate the price increase

 So called "audiophiles" would explode hearing that. But they're not really the clientele this TT is going after. At this price point, there's a lot of value here in terms of sound, looks, specs and functionality. The AT-LPW40WN is a nice turntable that is not too entry level, and has some room (not a lot) of upgradeability for people to tinker with in the future, such as, different VM95 series cartridge, mats, stabilizers

My first turntable and I'm glad I went with this

Great turntable! Easy to set up, very quiet, built in phono pre-amp, nice tone arm. The included VM95E cartridge sounds great to my ears. Almost perfect! I have 2 very small point of contention. 1

 The power on/off switch is on the back, so you have to reach over the top to flip it. That was also an easy fix, I just bought a smart outlet for $15, now I just say “Alexa, record player on”. I will be upgrading at some point, but not because of any failings on the part of this TT. Audio Technica, though, has failed to provide any fully automatic options above the LP3

Great turntable

My husband very sweetly got me a turntable for Christmas. It’s an Audio-Technica - AT-LPW30TK, and it’s a significant upgrade from our self-contained Crosley with built-in speakers and Bluetooth.

 This took care as I imagine that it would be easy to crack the cover if forced.  Sound-wise, the table delivers. I would have given 5 stars for this price but the table does "rumble" at high volumes. I have it on a very solid base and previous tables I have had here did not exhibit this

My boyfriend got a cheap turntable for his birthday last year and has become mildly obsessed, but he HATES how it sounds. I’ve got about $350-$400 to get him a better one for Christmas, but I need suggestions. I was looking at the Fluance brand but I’m open to any suggestions that will make his death metal records sound top quality. Thank you!
