 Carefully unpack the turntable and make certain you have all of the parts and accessories. You should have the turntable chassis with attached dual RCA output cables, dust cover with attached hinges, die-cast aluminum platter with drive belt, felt platter mat, head shell with pre-installed 1891R stereo cartridge, counterweight assembly, 45 RPM record adapter. Begin by installing the platter and drive belt. Carefully place the platter on the spindle and make certain it is fully seated

 Be very careful not to damage the exposed stylus by dragging the cartridge across the platter mat. While gently holding the head shell, rotate the counterweight until the tone arm is horizontally balanced. It should hover freely just above the platter and not touch the platter surface. Once the tone arm is balanced, without touching the counterweight, carefully move the tone arm over to its rest and temporarily secure it to the rest using the nylon tie

 Tighten carefully. Next, install the counterweight, making certain that the black stylus force gauge dial is oriented toward the front. As you rotate the counterweight, it will thread onto the tone arm. Now we will balance the tone arm

 While gently holding the head shell to stabilize the tone arm, carefully loosen the nylon tie and remove the foam packing sheet securing the tone arm to its rest. Also, Bluetooth would be nice whilst I grow my vinyl collection…Any better suggestions? I don’t want to spend more than £600 ideally

First vinyl setup?

 Another reviewer mentioned problems with the automatic arm starting in the wrong place, and I had that problem, too. It looked to me like the headshell or cartridge was tilted sideways a bit, so I gently tried to straighten it, and that seemed to help the alignment issue. Also, the stylus guard was missing, so I emailed Audio-Technica support, and they promptly and kindly offered to send me one. I purchased this turntable through Amazon Warehouse deals, so the following probably won't apply to others

If you're looking down on the turntable, and/or it's dark, you may not notice the needle isn't touching the record. I bought LP's as a youngster right before CD's came along, and I recently reacquired some of the ones I gave up to a family member decades ago. Since I already have a receiver, this turntable was a good solution for me. I get what others have said about the outside having a cheap plastic feel. It does feel kind of thin and hollow, but since the unit is basically sitting on a shelf all the time it really doesn't affect performance

 Sound quality seems to be very good, it's noticeably louder and more lifelike than most digital formats, and I had forgotten some of the little idiosyncrasies of vinyl (e.g. if you mute the sound, you can still faintly hear music near the stylus). Connected to my Yamaha receiver and speakers, I've really enjoyed listening

Can anyone suggest a budget turntable and some Edifiers or alternative speakers?

I'd like to spend maybe £250 on the turntable and maybe £200 ish on the speakers?

AT-LP2X cartridge upgrade.

Okay—this is from someone who has never owned a real turntable, just a suitcase player that I bought for my kid. I also am not done playing side A of the first LP I slapped on this thing like ten minutes ago. Also, I did, however, live with an audiophile for two years way back in college and he was always playing rare, weirdo LPs. I know what it’s supposed to sound like

 I’d you want your first record player, or are looking to upgrade from a suitcase player that is not really designed to hook up to a component stereo system, this is a great place to start. Albert Lee’s Speechless is the first LP I put on this bad boy and I am speechless at how much better this sounds over that Victoria suitcase player. Sounds like Albert is in my living room! Recommend!!

 So—experience and use of this product is limited here, BUT I must say I can’t believe I fiddled for one second trying to get my son’s suitcase player to sound good through my old-school Kenwood stereo. I spent like hours! Well, it was time wasted. This thing, in the first few seconds after the needle has dropped, sounds AWESOME!  Easy, no brainer set-up and stellar sound. I have subtracted a star because it is a tad flimsy in construction, but I am happy with it considering the quite reasonable price

But I used to have an LP2x which is a lot lower on the AT spectrum of AT than the very nice LPW40 and I gotta say there is a noticable difference in sound but not that much to be honest, the LP2x was a very nice TT and it worked great, no speed issues or anything... I like AT turntsbles and this one is one of the best looking ones and I bet it sounds awesome

 You forget that this is a $130 turntable.  Overall: For the price, it's worth it if you want to test the vinyl waters before deciding if you want to commit, but this is definitely just a starter turntable. It's pretty good for what it is, but if you decide to seriously get back into vinyl, you'll want to move up to something with better build quality.  UPDATE 6/9/2022 I bumped this up to 4 stars from 3, because the more I have used it the more I have fallen in love with it

(Sorry if the answer is somewhere out there but I didn't find it, feel free to redirect me)

I'm planning to build an audio system step by step.
I currently have a marshall speaker with only a jack input (I plan to replace it later but I would like to keep it for now), I was wondering if a turntable with RCA output can be plugged in my speaker with an adapter RCA to jack. As the speaker is amplified I would say the volume would be enough, but is it simply doable ?

To give a bit a context :
I have a marshall speaker for several years now, I love it but I know it doesn't have the capacity or even pretention to be hifi.
I would like to buy a turntable, maybe used, maybe not, that I will be able to enjoy directly on my Marshall. ( AT-LP2X or something similar)
Then, in several months, I plan to buy either active speakers or amp + speakers.
