 This is the at lp7. This is audio technica's flagship turntable This is the best of the best for audio technica now audio technica as you know They're famous for their headphones and their turntable cartridges, so this is going to be a treat I really have not found an audio technica product so far that I don't like Everything they do is high quality. It's just good stuff period now Here's a shot of the accessories by the way they pack it into the side foam pieces, which I think is really really smart I wanted to mention too I am not sure who audio technica is using for their production partner with this unit I have no idea But it really doesn't matter because the product that is delivered at the end of the day is the only thing that matters So let's dig into this and see what we got here and working this out of the box is kind of tricky It was in there super super tight, so it took me a while now I know this may sound silly, but even the cardboard box was high quality I mean they really pack it well And they pack it smartly so that when it comes to you when it arrives to you It is ready to go it is protected also worth mentioning There's no retail packaging on this because this isn't something you're just gonna see on the store shelf You're gonna order this it's gonna be shipped to you directly, so there's no need for retail packaging on this okay I'm gonna go ahead and take out all of the accessories here be very careful when you do this Especially with the head shell assembly which I'm taking apart right now Because it's very delicate very gentle. That's a major part of the investment so here

 I'm gonna set that aside for a second It's a gorgeous dust cover and then the unit itself with an anti static plastic wrap here We can set these foam pieces aside make sure you keep the packaging material if you can because it's the best way to store and Transport this unit if you're moving down the road, or you're gonna store it for whatever reason okay? Let's take off this foam cling wrap that is on this unit, and this is the dust cover It is gorgeous a smoked plastic you'll notice. There's no hinges on it because this unit just sits right on top It's like a cap, and I don't show it again in the video But the turntable looks great with that dust cover on okay. It's actually a platter mat with no grooves and I'm spinning it at 33 rpm And I'm placing the needle on to the surface and the tone arm as you can see has a tendency to either pull to the inside Or the outside to set the anti-skate All you have to do is rotate the anti-skate knob until it finds a spot where it doesn't want to drift inside or out See how it's still that record is still spinning, but it's solid. Okay guys, it is calibrated

 It's set up We are ready to go. We're gonna listen to a direct feed. This does require speakers I want to mention that so we're gonna listen to a direct feed into the computer of this record player playing music I Wish I could play more you guys I really do but because of the copyright thing on YouTube I can't I can only share small small clips of that audio wish I could share more I encourage you to go back and listen to some more of that if you had your headphones on which I hope you did You're gonna notice a lot of channel separation The stereo sound staging is gonna seem very very wide which is really fun to listen to and by the way check it out No platter wobble whatsoever. This thing is solid as a rock guys This is what playing a record is all about

Loose tonearm bearings ruin an otherwise great table...

 It should hover freely just above the platter and not touch the platter's surface. Once the tone arm is balanced without touching the counterweight, carefully move the tone arm to its rest and secure it using the clamp. Now set the stylus tracking force to the manufacturer's recommendation. Every cartridge has a manufacturer's recommended tracking force

 First, set the anti-skate adjustment knob to zero. Make certain that the stylus protector is lowered, protecting the stylus. While gently holding the head shell to stabilize the tone arm, carefully release the locking clamp. At this point, the tone arm is unbalanced and can easily swing

 This small outward force can be applied to the tone arm to compensate for the natural skating force that pulls the tone arm toward the center of the record. For best performance during normal turntable operation, set the anti-skate adjustment knob to the same value as the cartridge tracking force. When properly set up, the tone arm is parallel to the record surface. If you are playing thicker records, adjust the tone arm height

AT LP-7 gang! Love this turntable so much. Was gonna get a cart upgrade, but the stock vm520eb is great, so I figured I'd just wait till I need to replace it before I upgrade. Sorry about the mess. I'll get my life together someday

Fantastic turntable. Nearly silent operation. My only criticism is that it is a pain in the butt to have to lift the needle up after an album side finishes. I’ve fallen asleep many times only to find my $800 cartridge dragging around on the album

Audio Technica AT-LP7 : Unboxing & Setup

I’m looking to spend around 800-1200 on a new turntable and I’m fixated on these two setups. 
I currently have an AT LPW40WN and I like it, so that’s why I’m considering the LP7.

I also really like all the bells and whistles that come with the X1 so it’s on my list.

That being said, am I going to notice a massive difference between a $350 turntable that I currently have to one 3x as expensive? 

I’m using a vintage receiver (pioneer SX-636) for my phono stage and a pair of Kef Q150s for my speakers.

AT LP7 vs Pro-ject X1

$800 for a turntable powered by a rubber band?

 It should help us with not having any issues listening to some music, hint, hint, wink, wink. Let's go ahead and spin it up and give her a listen. You guys let me know what you think of this $849 now turntable. Okay, guys, and that's going to do it for today

 This thing weighs more, like considerably more than LP 120, which is already weighted. This thing is an absolute beast. They say it's an MDF base, but there has to be weights in here. There has to be, because this is, it's a plastic veneer with apparently very dense MDF and some weights, because this thing is so incredibly heavy

 What we're going to do is I'm going to give you a brief overview. We've done the full review. I'll put a link in the description below if you want to check out the original video. So I'm not going to rehash that, but I'm going to give you a brief overview of the feature set, and then I'm just going to talk about what my experiences are, point out any flaws or things that I like, and then we'll do a sound test, a direct feed sound test at the end

 It's just good. It's consistently good. I'll be doing a line direct feed to a digital audio recorder, and I will sync that audio with what you are seeing on camera. For audio, you're in for a treat today because we are listening to a pretty rare record
