 You can jump to those parts of your book Wherever you had your highlights entered before so another thing you can do is if you like pinch zoom on an image It will enter this like image zooming window I mean it doesn't work smoothly at all But you can zoom in on the image if you wanted to like if you map close it up or something like that So you can zoom in on the images using the pinching gesture So that pretty much covers the reading features on the nook glow light plus again It's pretty much just a larger version of the glow light 3 here with the larger 7.8 inch screen They both have 300 PPI both have adjustable front lights and 8 gigabytes of storage space same processor So a lot of overlap here You're just basically getting a larger screen and audio support on the newer nook Although the auto support is extremely limited So I'm gonna go ahead and wrap up this video check out the ebook reader comm for the full review. 7.8" Nook Glowlight Plus Review - 2019 Nook

What's up with this battery life ???? It's only lasting maybe five hours on a full charge. Yes,that's constant reading but my original nook would last got days I could read constantly ten to twelve hours and not get low battery notification.

Love my Kindle Paperwhite. Just hate every book I read makes that guy a little richer. 

Kindle is all I've known so I don't have any familiarity with book purchasing platforms outside Amazon but I would really consider it ideal if whatever I switch to supported people who love books and not people who love money. That may be too big an ask. But it is the dream here. 

I don't think I have any crazy specific needs, I'm your standard Amazon/Apple/Google "we make technology easy for people who suck at technology" user. That said I read a lot a lot (80-120 books per year). So I'd like it to be a pleasant experience and don't mind spending for the right product that will last -- so no real budget. I'll save up whatever is necessary to make the best option happen.

Requirements/Preferences (in rough order of priority):

* Waterproof. Enough said.

* Wherever I am buying my books from to be supporting the most ethical option while also balancing my experience on the device. Amazon has a really great device experience -- I'm willing to compromise to feel better about where my money goes, but not willing to suffer through a horrible daily device experience (in which case I'd just apologize to Jeff that I considered leaving him like a good Stockholm syndrome victim). But that is the whole point of the switch so..top of the list it goes.

* User-friendly. I am willing to learn some new skills and (jokes aside) am definitely able to. So don't be afraid to recommend things with a small learning curve (I'll need to de-DRM with Calibre for sure). I would just prefer not to work hard every single time I want a new book, nor am I the type to care about customizing anything.

* Longevity. Willing to spend more for something quality that will last. Not the type to upgrade toys often so it'll keep me for a while.

* Being able to purchase or send books directly to the device strongly ideal. Could survive without. Would really really prefer not to. Would love more information in general about what my options here might look like outside of Amazon.

* Being able to share books with friends like the old timey days would be a pro.  

* I read at night. Dark mode essential. Something that cuts blue light in addition to dark mode would be a huge huge plus.

* Amazon organizes books like shit so I currently only keep 6-12 'to read' books downloaded at any time despite it's massive memory. Would LOVE to be able to organize folders to keep all my books downloaded. But since I don't currently have this I could continue surviving without for sure.

* Quicker responsiveness if possible. Kindle is fine but a little laggy. I'm assuming that kind of comes with the territory. It doesn't bother me too much, just if I'm making a wishlist that is on it, albeit near the bottom.

* Highlighting and notes a small plus. Easy for me to abandon so very willing to compromise.

* Audiobook not needed. Will never use.

I already buy my ebooks at kobo so I first considered the kobo forma, but this means completely discarding manga and I really want a device that is good for both.

I then looked at the boox nova and I could load tachiyomi into it ( I think, its android so it should) but then I give up on the water resistance, which is a very big plus for me since I plan to read near the beach a lot. 

I don't have an issue with in the long term buying two devices my main issue is bringing two devices to the beach, ideally I would have one device to read whatever I feel like at the moment. Is this impossible?

Good device for both manga and e books with water resistance

 My only complaint is that the battery life doesnt seem to be as long as it was for any of my prior Nooks, before it prompts me to recharge. Otherwise, a very good product at an attractive price.

 Excellent quality & more features than my 3 prior Nooks. This is a refurbished Nook &, as such, it was 25% less than Barnes & Noble is charging for a new one ($149 vs $199). My only complaint is that the battery life doesnt seem to be as long as it was for any of my prior Nooks, before it prompts me to recharge. Otherwise, a very good product at an attractive price

If you're looking for something completely different, try the Boox Nova 3.  It's small enough to be portable and use a notepad and powerful enough to be a real tablet.  You can even watch video on it with sound! Neoreader and the availability of the koreader app means it's also perfectly useable for PDFs too.

I have way too many but honestly most are just taking up space.  I only really use the Pocketbook and the Nova 3 color. Occasionally the Oasis and Voyage come out, and I keep the Kindle Basic in my motorcycle for when I'm stuck waiting at a drive through or there's going to be a lot of standing around waiting.

Got a venerable 9"kindle DX + a small kindle 4 that I don't use. What I use now to read is a Hisense a7cc.

Finally got the cash to replace it and decided on the boox nova 3. Purchased today direct from the online store. Amazon has like a $60 markup no matter that seller I found as the nova 3 goes for $500+ CAD on Amazon. The boox online store has them for $330 USD and after taxes and conversion it came to be $440 CAD.

I used to have a Kindle Keyboard, which was my only reader for like 7+ years. Eventually it broke and I started reading on an 8" Asus tablet. That was actually really good (it's got a 4:3 QHD resolution and really good screen), but the backlight was still bothersome. 

Bought a Kindle Paperwhite 4 in early 2019 but still kept switching back and forth between size vs. e-ink, so bought a Boox Nova 2 in 2020 and haven't looked back. 

I really like the Boox. The screen size is perfect and I love the warm light option. Now just waiting for color e-ink to improve in quality. The Kindle sits in a drawer 90% of the time now, though I guess it's nice to have a backup if anything goes wrong with the Boox reader.

I wouldn't mind a 10" reader, but price-wise they're not really worth it to me right now. Maybe in the future though.

I’ve quickly accumulated a collection of ereaders and it happened within a matter of weeks. Kind of ridiculous considering you can only do one thing on them and even then most people only read one or two books at a time. 

It started with trying to find the perfect device but then it evolved to a desire to own more obscure or niche devices. 

Currently I own:

A white Kindle Paperwhite 2015, found it for a cheap price new in box. Use it to read my kindle library and also other kindle freebies. Tall with big bezels and light so blue it’s like you’re reading in the Arctic. 


Nook Glowlight 3, fabulous hardware. Grippy soft touch plastic and satisfying page turn buttons. Lovely warm light that covers the whole 6 inch screen with no dead spots. Janky software. Deleted all my sideloaded books. Has a swipe to unlock screen which I find to be superfluous.


Kobo Clara HD: Great compact size. Maybe I bought a lemon because at the bottom of the screen there’s quite a few dead spots where the light is uneven. I love how it slowly changes the light temperature depending on the time of day. My go to Overdrive/library book reader. 


Also in the Kobo drawer are a 2013 Aura and two minis. Love these little guys. 

Next the red headed step kids of my collection. My AliExpress 4.3 inch reader which is surprisingly capable. Also I have a whole box of 1st and 2nd gen kindles I’m trying to fiddle with. 

So with that being said which one should I buy next? Android boox poke? Or maybe a refurbed voyage?

Clunky

Is there any real difference from other 300 ppi screen e-readers?

I have a Nook Glowlight plus from 2015 (not the new model) it has 300 ppi but I will get a Clara HD.

Will I notice the text more clear or something? I mean both readers have 300 ppi and I am curious if it is worth it to get a Clara HD or if it looks like any other 300 ppi screen even compared to old 300 ppi readers
