After umm-ing and arr-ing I took the the plunge on a Benq x3000i when it came back in stock due to favorable reviews and a 10% discount. While the picture quality was impressive it was just a bit on the large size and more importantly even on Eco mode the noise was too distracting to enjoy quieter shows. So I'm currently looking for an alternative, have been tempted by the LG HU70 as although wider than the X3000I it is smaller over all and projectors central stats show it as about 3db quieter, down side is that contrast is poor and its not that bright but surely it should be a reasonable step up from the anker solar.

With the high contrast and brightness, X3000i can indeed present the true picture with different kinds of scenes in movies and games. Speaking of the refresh rate on this projector, 4K@60Hz is fine for me while playing open-world games like Horizon Forbidden West and Elden Ring. But you can also adjust the refresh up to 1080p@240Hz for more competitive games.
