Again if you're using applications such as the Amazon app you're going to get a little bit of a page animation, but the apps pretty much work as intended and things overall respond pretty well. You have things like report content error, share, copy, search, note, annotate, etc. This will all come down to the application that you're using

Pocketbooks support folder view, read everything, allow the installation of KoReader, and some have SD card readers.  I'll go check but I believe the Touch Lux 5, the Inkpad 3, and the Inkpad X will fit all of your requirement.  They also have physical buttons, if that's a thing you like.  Sizes are 6" 7.8" and 10" respectively.


Edit:  Clarification: The Touch Lux 5 has an SD slot.  The Inkpad 3 (non-pro only) has an SD card slot.  The Inkpad X has 32g internal memory (no sd slot).

Many people have made good recommendations so I won't add another in terms of readers, but one thing I'll recommend is keep your kindle associated with your Amazon account so you can de-drm books easily in the event you end up buying a book from Amazon in the future.

I'm really sad that Kobo axed micro SD support. 8GB on all the models now, and the Forma 32GB is nowhere to be found (at least not here in Europe). 

Still using an Aura HD, love IT very much.

I've only owned Kindles and looking to sever ties with Amazon. I think what I'm looking for is just about non-existent:

True E-ink e-reader (not a tablet),
Back light,
Folder view,
Micro SD card if under 32GB internal memory.

I've looked at a few options but without advice from someone who has been hands-on with a device, there is a lot of junk to sift through. File support doesn't matter, I have my collection in both Mobi and EPub, what's most important is the folder system. I have around 8k books all sorted into a nestled hierarchical directory (ie. Fiction&gt;Action&gt;Militarily&gt;Techno-Thriller or Non-fiction&gt;Historical&gt;Early American&gt;Pre-revolution).

Privacy and social issues aside, Kindle collections are absolute rubbish for larger libraries. I am good with Calibre and tried it on my tablet - but battery life on a tab when coming from a Paperwhite is an issue (I'm off-grid for a week or so every couple months for work).

[Boox tablets](https://www.boox.com) all run Android. They don't "officially" support the Play Store, but they have an easy button to activate the Play Store anyway and it works perfectly.

Are there any e-book readers (not smartphones) that have android app support? Here in Estonia there is a paid e-book subscription service that uses an android app. I like reading books from a e-book reader (the screen is better for my eyes) but reading e-books from a smartphone just isn't for me.

 They also provide a case to go with it which is nice.  One complaint that I have with the e-reader is that the battery drains quickly if you're reading novels online. For me, I usually need to charge it up after a long day of reading. As what the other reviews have mentioned, if you want to maximize battery, use it with Bluetooth and Wifi turned off

Great Little E-Reader

 This is a landscape video, copyright free, royalty free, just to show you guys some movement on the screen. Everything looks absolutely phenomenal and there's no slowdown and it's actually quite impressive because for $129, there isn't a lot of choices out there where you can actually watch videos on an e-reader. If you think about it, the Poke 2 is out of stock, the Poke 2 color is discontinued and the Poke 3 is about 190 bucks. So in terms of watching videos on an e-reader, especially one that's priced well, this is a very viable choice
