I'm interested in the Epson EcoTank and the HP Smart Tank. Got fed up of having to pay $30 every 2 months or so for new HP123 ink.

Budget limit is $300 for a new printer. Looking mostly for low cost per print, also would like to know if any of you know of better printers than these.

Are any of the "tank" printers good?

 I did not try to connect it to the wireless because our wireless is not reliable and I want my printer directly connected to my computer. I will have to return it.  UPDATE: I’m changing from one star to 3 stars. We had someone come over and figure out how to make it possible to print from the computer without using Wi-Fi

 I've used the CD to install the drivers, connected the same cord to the computer that I used with the last printer, but no luck. I looked on the support page and on the quick setup guide, but nothing is listed that I have already tried. I did not try to connect it to the wireless because our wireless is not reliable and I want my printer directly connected to my computer. I will have to return it

Cannot get my computer to recognize it

The sleep mode is disruptive; printer basic.

It works very well. I picked this one to replace a Samsung laser printer, the latter which I gave the "Office Space" treatment after jamming up on me for the umpteenth time (go see the movie if you don't know what this means). I already had another Brother printer of the same family as this one and it never jams, so this printer purchase was an obvious choice. This printer is the same as the Brother I already had, but without the "top buildup" (the scanner and the auto-feeder)

 But my own fault, should have checked that beforehand. Other thing that was unexpected: It does not have a hard-wired Ethernet interface (RJ45), only wireless (it does have the USB though). Not that big of a deal, wireless works well, but I would have like it as I have the whole house wired with CAT5 ethernet. But for the rest, nothing but kudos , a very good printer for an acceptable price

 If your wi-fi isn't communicating to the printer directly (because of several reasons), the long way is a real pain. You have to find and manually enter tons of numbers and letters--and it still might not work. Mine didn't so I'm back to the cord. Great Printer but Wi-Fi setup is ridiculous

 Way faster, and higher quality printing. I hope the cartridge replacement isn't just another scam though.

In addition to being able to use my new printer within 15 minutes of unpacking it - the print quality is very good and it is also a fast printer. I am using this to replace a previous ink jet machine that I hated. The ink is such a scam. My family doesn't really need color printing, so a laser jet is a good alternative
