 I liked the price and look of this one, it looked more expensive than the tag. I read the reviews and saw all the complaints and the photos and decided to disregard them because I really wanted him to have this one. I liked the size of it and that it has a smoker and “counter” space for items. It arrived a few days early, the day after Father’s Day actually which was perfect

 I use a chimney and I can't seem to start a fire without dropping a hot coal on the wooden shelves. The grills are cast iron, not a big deal for me, but they said that fires over 400 degrees will burn off the seasoning. I always grill pretty hot  The neutral: The wheels seem very cheap but I'll call that a push b/c they also seem functional. The charcoal hopper lifts out so ash can be removed easier, but it does get stuck in the grill on top of the hopper, again a push  usability 6 out of 5 This is why I recommend

Like I said in the headline I do recommend it but I wanted to take a little while to give this a proper review. I'm rating this on the things that stuck out to me. Packing 1 out of 5 - This came in a package that looks like it was returned a few times. it was barely a box Quality Assurance 0 out of 5 - the grill had a big dent and the bolts and nuts were just in a bag, it looked like a return that was just shipped out right away

 Part of me wants to give it two or three stars because the instructions are garbage, you're going to have damaged parts and customer service is fairly poor... they're not impolite; just

  I called Char-Griller at the number listed on the user manual and got a recorded message as it was after their business hours. They're open from 8:30AM-5:00PM, M-F and they're in Georgia. I'm in Colorado, so the two-hour difference is what got me. To me, this isn't an issue; in fact, their message left me with the impression that they're a smaller company, which I prefer and I honestly think it would be ridiculous to expect 24/7 tech support for a grill

 Quite frankly, the instructions are pretty poor. The photographs are such poor quality, they provide no help whatsoever. The instructions are generally okay, but be prepared to just figure some stuff out for yourself. If you get the side box, the instructions are for a different model and the manual you download ends up being garbage

Great Grilling Experience - Below Average Customer Experience

  I'm not real crazy about emptying the ashes. The grate the coals sit on is welded to the ash catcher and the whole thing must be lifted out to dump the ashes. With models as large as the Outlaw, that is a rather bulky and awkward job. But, ash clean up is always a downside of charcoal grilling

 I took the partial refund. I am not very partial to the plastic wheels that come with the grill but these can easily be replaced with rubber ones. The tips of the included tool holder did not have a pointed tip on them that makes screwing them in to the side wood more difficult, but nothing a pilot hole will not take care of. After putting the grill together, I found that the cooking grates so not seem to be long enough; if you do not put them on precisely they will/could fall into the grill easily

 Prior to getting the Outlaw (with smoker box attachment) I used the Smokin' Pro. The two grills are identical in design, the Outlaw is just a few inches larger.  These grills offer excellent features. Built in thermometer, adjustable air intake and chimney, external shelves, height adjustable charcoal tray, cast iron grates, Texas offset design, etc

  Unfortunately, the grills are built like crap. The black powder coat will peel off the first time you use the smoker box. The unit will quickly rust. I find they last just 2 - 3 years (assuming you grill often like I do)

 The wheels will rust off. The charcoal tray will warp and rust. That being said, replacing the grill every couple of years is not a hassle, and I love the features so much that I cannot see a reason to spend $1500 on a awesomely built grill when I can just buy one of these for around $200 a pop every few years. Additionally, you can get replacement part easily, so keeping the grill functional over time isn't too bad

  These grills offer excellent features. Built in thermometer, adjustable air intake and chimney, external shelves, height adjustable charcoal tray, cast iron grates, Texas offset design, etc. Everything I want in a grill.  The grill performs well
