 One of the only things that I actually don't like about this car seat is the system that they have on this sunshade. You can't really move it up and down with just one hand. You really kind of need two hands, which is a problem when you're in the driver's seat and your baby's behind you and you see that maybe it's down and the sun's coming in and you're trying to pull it ahead. Chicco KeyFit 30 Review 2020

We have two kids (8 and 5) that no longer require strollers. We are expecting a third this fall and I'm starting to research strollers once again. 🙄 I'm thinking back to what we experienced with the two kids and I'm looking for advice/opinion from others on what they would recommend based on previous years of usage. Here's what I'm thinking, did I miss anything?

- I hate the travel systems. The strollers are too big to my liking. We had the 3-wheel Britax for over 5yearsz while it was great I hated the storage area underneath. Now the big difference between now and three years ago is we have a minivan now so we do have more storage in the trunk.

- We never purchased a decent quality lightweight stroller. The one we bought we didn't take for a test drive, got it off Amazon. I hated the thing, I never got around to returning it.

- Looking at a frame stroller and here's why I'm leaning towards it. For the first year or so, baby is in car seat, I can take baby out of car and click into the frame. The frame has a large basket underneath, which is important for us because we can carry additional items for all 3 kids. Once kid turns 2 (yes? man it's been a while), when I don't need to transfer the car seat in/out of car, purchase a decent lightweight stroller.

Stroller advice - if you had to do it all over again

  The canopy is a nightmare. It is a struggle to open and requires both hands. It moves around constantly and is way too short. The only pro is it is removable

6 pounds. Just remember, your little one will add to that. And now let's jump right into the best thing about this car seat. It is easy to install

 And it's travel system ready. And for the cons, when it comes to adjusting the KeyFit 30, when your little one grows, the harness straps do have to be rethreaded. There are other car seats on the market that offer the feature no rethreaded harness that really does take the work out of the adjusting. We weren't thrilled with the canopy because it wasn't the smoothest of motions going up and down

Decent car seat, terrible canopy

Hello, I am expecting and will become a first time mom in late March/early April. My SO and I have picked out most essential items but haven't bought anything yet, and I'm not sure if I'm making a mistake. 

My plan was always to buy a top safety rated "one for life" car seat (I promise this is relevant). I felt that the infant car seats were less user-proof, less long-term practical, and I don't want to waste money on many different car seats when I can get a really safe one that converts as my child grows.

I'm about to sound very ignorant and clueless, but I guess I always assumed the hand-carrying features of these seats were available as like... their own product? A baby seat you could carry around the baby in, but that didn't necessarily strap into a car seat. 

Initially this discovery didn't phase me. My husband and I both plan to wear the baby, so why bother with the plastic thing at all? We can get a travel bassinet much more cheaply than a separate infant car seat and just carry the baby from the car to various places. 

However, maybe because I have many first time mom anxieties, I am beginning to worry this is a bad plan. It basically positions me to be wearing the baby from the jump,  including leaving the hospital, going out for the first times, etc. What if the baby really hates being worn? Who will help me make sure I have a good fit and position for the baby the first time I am wearing him? What if my tummy doesn't deflate right away, or I can't walk properly, and the carrier doesn't fit me? 

Can anyone advise on how they handled this? Sorry if this is pretty typical first time mom woes, but before we invest in car seats and carriers I wanted to get opinions from people with experience. Are these actual problems or just nervous thoughts? Should I just give in and get the infant car seat, even though my hope is that we don't carry the baby in it?

TL;DR, has anyone worn their baby basically from birth and how did that go for you, and can you replace the need for the infant car seat/carry system with the carrier and save money with the lifetime car seat?
