I've been playing for 10+ years and never really found a band to play live gigs with until now (though I have played a small handful). While its not my style, the general sounds is punk/alt rock covers. So I've found the band, I have the bass, and the amp, so my question is, what pedals should I aim to have in a basic gig ready pedal board? I think off of what I've read, a Fuzz and a Tuner pedal are good for utility/versatility, but I'm curious to see what you all think, thanks in advance for any advice you could provide.

At home I have a TC Electronic 15” 250W combo, and a 10” Behringer practice amp. I have a VOX amplug headphone amp with me while I am away from home for the next 6 weeks.

I’ve been practicing with the VOX headphone amp, but it’s kind of flat and uninspiring. I’ve got some cables coming so I can connect my phone to play along.

I’m not sure if I would want to record to a computer, but the potential for online lessons is there, and I doubt I’d be playing out anywhere. It would be nice to be able to practice later at night without disturbing anybody (I live in a basement apartment, but that is also where the Behringer comes in). I do have a headphone amp that the cab simulator could plug into.

I guess part of the problem is that I don’t really know the pros and cons of each or how they are used.

Recommendations and advice are appreciated.

Do I want a cabinet simulator/emulator, headphone amp, or just stick with what I have?

Great little headphone amp.

 We've been using it all afternoon and I've been getting some really great sounds from it. I was really surprised when listening back through the interface. I think the sliders work great, it's really easy to use, the build quality is very very good and the retail price is gonna be around 270 euros which for what you're getting I think is not expensive at all and you can keep your wife or kids happy while playing quietly at home or use it for teaching and just carry it around in your pocket basically. So yeah I really enjoyed it

So I’ll be moving into a shared apartment soon and definitely want to bring my bass along. I’m also looking to buy a new amp as I can’t being my old one along. Those of you that have experience with this, would you say I should invest in a big loud one like Fender rumble 40 (even though I most definitely won’t be able to play it loudly) or rather go with something smaller (8“speaker?), quieter or even just play through headphones (feel free to recommend some!). I have no experience with this whatsoever so any tips would be much appreciated!

PS: I’m still just a beginner, not looking to spend huge amounts of money. At this point I can’t even really yet tell difference between different amp sounds so even if it’s  “worse” it shouldn’t be a big deal yet.

Playing bass in a shared apartment

Not what I expected for the price

 So we'll use the B7K for that. And then we'll just go straight into the cab sim pedal as well. And then what we're going to do is we're just going to go direct out from the cab sim into the recorder. So you get a direct sound

 And for things like that, and maybe some other pedal designs, I'd like to see that going forward, because that's just really useful. Coming in, I mean, Darkglass are not the cheapest pedals. Yeah, but they're high-end stuff. With that, you get quality
