The Dell g5 is a well-priced gaming laptop from their new G series. So let's take a look at what you get and help you decide if it's a laptop, you should consider buying. Let'S start by checking out the specs of this unit, as there are a few options available with this model as an Intel, i7 8750 h, cpu, which has six cores and can turbo up to four point: one gigahertz and single core workloads. In my unit, the sixteen gig of ddr4 memory running at 2600, 66 megahertz and dual channel, but the two slots can support up to 32 gig for storage

 Although i tried applying a 200 megahertz increase, we can see here that it only rose about 136 megahertz on average, due to the power limit being reached with both cpu under bolting and GPU overclocking applied. We get a little boost in games, but not really enough of a difference to justify retesting all of the games. Just a few frames per second here and there. I'Ve just quickly got some CPU benchmarks here and we can see that it's a decent step up from the seventh generation, as we've got two extra cores with slightly faster single-threaded clock speeds and we can see there's a nice boost with the undervolt applied

Six five kilos and mine weighed just a bit more than this, probably due to the additional one terabyte hard drive with the 180 watt power, brick and cable for charging. Just another post warning all not to buy gaming laptops from Dell ever. I have a Dell G5 5590 which has massive overheating problems. when idleing my CPU can exceed 100 degrees and the GPU 96 degreees (this is before any gaming).

Dell purposely designed a faulty product line when designing the G Series. the components are fitted so close togehter that it is inevitable that they will overheat. not a couple out of thousand, almost every single one would have this issue. 

if you live in the US, there is a Law Firm building a case against Dell for these G Series laptops and there overheating issue, so if you live there i recommend you contact them. unfortunately i live in the UK so they couldnt represent me. 

Dell have today told me for the THIRD TIME that they will replace my heatsink, Expert PC Repair Tip: if replacing the heatsink the first two times didnt resolve the issue, it wont work the third time either....

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE dont not buy Dell, they do not deserve your hard earned money.

DBD! Dont Buy Dell gaming laptops EVER!! Friendly warning

Great expectations but under delivered

7kg or 8.1lb with the large 240 watt power/\s/ brick and cables, but the lower spec 3050 and/\s/3050 Ti models have a smaller 180 watt brick. The size is pretty typical/\s/for a 15” gaming laptop,/\s/ and the 3060 model I’ve got here is/\s/2mm thicker than those 3050 versions. My G15 has a 15

My G15 has a 15.6” 1080p 120Hz panel,/\s/but there’s also a better 165Hz option. You’ve got the option of using Optimus for better/\s/battery life, but you can also disable it through/\s/ the BIOS for better performance in games,/\s/but there’s no software support for changing/\s/ this at this time

 The screen is at least just able to get/\s/above 300 nits at maximum brightness,/\s/ though the spec sheet says 250 nits. so I/\s/might have gotten lucky in the panel lottery. It’s One of the slower screens when compared/\s/against other gaming laptops. I’ve tested with/\s/ a 22ms response time, similar to some/\s/other 60Hz options

 Dell usually has/\s/ great Ubuntu support, at least in their XPS and/\s/business lineup, so not sure if this will change. Let’s discuss pricing and availability next./\s/This will of course change over time and/\s/ Dell does often run sales, so check/\s/updates down in the description below. At The time of recording, the Dell G15 with Ryzen/\s/7 processor, RTX 3060 graphics and 16 gigs of/\s/ memory is $1480 USD, but this one has the higher/\s/tier 165Hz screen, which is better than what I’ve/\s/ tested here

He is interested in going to college to learn video editing (He is familiar with Adobe Premiere Pro) like a course offered at Full Sail in Orlando Florida.  He also likes to live stream while he is playing on his PC, XBox, or Nintendo Switch.

His current system is a DELL [Inspiron 3252 Specifications](https://downloads.dell.com/manuals/all-products/esuprt_desktop/esuprt_inspiron_desktop/inspiron-3252-small-desktop_reference%20guide_en-us.pdf) but because it is old and he has used it for the activities mentioned above and his school work it lags a lot.

Dell G15 (2022) - Worst Gaming Laptop Ever, But I Fixed It!

 Time, though, both have FreeSync for smooth tearfree gameplay, the only downside with the 144Hz panel was PWM.. The battery life was fair, considering the size and while the lower specced G5 lasted longer, as presumably lower tier hardware uses less power it’s possible to upgrade the battery when buying, which is a nice option to have.

 On my lap., The 720p camera is found above the display in the center no Windows. I’ve also tested SPECviewperf, which tests out various professional 3D workloads. I’ve used the OpenVR benchmark to test the HTC Vive Cosmos Elite and, as A GPU heavy test, the 5600M was scoring quite good in this one and like we saw in the games, the cheaper G5 was outperforming the more expensive model due to the way smartshift works

. The more expensive 144Hz panel was better in almost all aspects. It’S brighter, though still below the 300 nits. I like to see it’s got better colour, gamut and, of course, higher refresh rate

 Overall, I think the G5 SE is offering some good gaming performance at the entry level price point. As you’re getting the 5600M graphics and dual channel memory, regardless of price you don’t have to spend more to get a good gaming experience and, as we saw in fact, The lower specced and cheaper config could actually outperform the higher specced and more expensive config in games at higher setting levels.. In order to do this, however, the G5 does run quite hot it’s, the hottest laptop I’ve tested in recent memory
