Elac Debut Reference DBR62

Went to a local electronics store, went through some blu rays, didn't find anything nice, thought i go by the audio equiment, some nice av-receivers, some bluetooth speaker - and then...several speakers for a lot less that normal. these elac dbr62 for 174€ - for the pair. i wasn't sure what to do, as i was there by bike and the store was closing for the night. so this morning a friend got there to get another speaker and brought me these and an elac dcr52 for less that 320€ all in all....quite the steal.

Depends if you are talking without a sub, for music only, and just bookshelves. If you have a sub (or two), you can get pretty far into the excellent category for <$2K, the NHT C3 bookshelves can be found <$1000 a lot of the time and they are pretty good, cheaper would be the ELAC DBR62 for $600. If you also want these to work in a movie watching setup, then that narrows your options, as you typically want at minimum 88dB sensitivity (and preferably 8ohm).

Bookshelf speakers + dedicated subwoofer presents a better value. Elac DBR62 + SVS PB-1000 Pro for example. There is a currently a promotion where the DBR62 come with free stands.
