Hi, I'm a former tennis player that has had to give tennis up due to an injury. Pickleball seems like a good outlet to replace my tennis itch. My question is where skill level wise can I expect to coming in at. I was formerly around a 4.0 to 4.5 in tennis. I'm thinking about taking a group class to understand the basics and differences from tennis. Any advice or info would be great. Thanks!

<p>Edit: My injury is my left wrist (I&#39;m right handed). Also thank you for all the tips and advice. I&#39;m not looking to jump right into tournaments or anything like that. I was never too concerned with my tennis rating. My playing style in tennis is kind of a mix between ground strokes and net play. I feel like my strategy and soft play is what will need the most work. My local community has a few pickleball clubs and groups so I&#39;m looking to join one and take a few lessons to get the basics down. Thanks everyone!</p>

 I was afraid the Lite model would not generate enough power - not to worry, the ball snaps off the face with more than adequate pace. The liter weight also makes it a quicker tool for catching hot volleys. Could not be happier with this paddle. If you are going to be playing a lot of singles I would recommend getting the standard weight

I purposely used a 13mm core paddle with less control to improve my defense organically but now I want a solid thick core paddle since defense is important to me and I don’t need any help on the offensive end. Any suggestions? Also if anyone has the Selkirk labs project 001 or 003 tell me how you like it! I’m Intrigued!

Paddle?

 Returning paddle and replacing with another MX. Update - received new paddle. Played three hours and there’s grit chips already. Thought the grit was molded on the carbon face and not sprayed on

So I played pickleball for the very first time today. Going into it- i did a little bit of research and I bought my own paddle on Amazon. I bought the SLK neo graphite. It was fine bc I really didn’t have anything to compare it to and I was athletic enough to make it competitive. 

Anyways after narrowly losing my first two games, my friend asked me to try his extra paddle which was an Engage Status. It immediately felt better with a nice pop and won the next three matches. I came home and looked into purchasing the same paddle but then fell into a wormhole so figured I’d ask on Reddit!  Is this a decent a paddle to go ahead and purchase or is there an equivalent or similar I should look into? 

I have the bug now and want to invest in something that will last and fit me.

First time player- I am hooked. Paddle recommendations?

 He says more touch and better control at 7oz weight. The paddle arrived 2 days earlier than expected. The box was huge and the paddle was wrapped only in plastic, it arrived with a small ding in the middle, probably due to the way it was shipped.
