I like sound quality and use wired headphones (Fiio FH7) so yeah. Also, wireless charging only sounds a little shit because I spend quite a bit of time camping or outside where i charge via a powerbank. Having about 30% loss or even more isn‘t cool in that case.

Apple should just slap a new smart connector on it similar to the iPad that can be used for charging and data. The phone will still remain portless and apple can sell more new accessories

At least Airpods have the advantage of actually being wireless. “Wireless charging” solves nothing because there’s STILL A WIRE ATTACHED TO IT. Not to mention it’s bulkier than a lightening cable.

My biggest issue if they did go portless, how the heck are you supposed to transfer data. I have a crap ton of photos on my iphone that build up, and I transfer them off onto my hard drive. I don't want to pay for icloud because screw that, I personally don't see the value in having it. I get for some people it does make sense, but it doesn't for me.

If apple does do this, I'm probably going to jump ship from the iphone, it just won't be worth it to me, which sucks because there are things I love, and I love Apple Music (hate spotify for loads of reason, but especially since they screw over music artists way worse). I hope it doesn't happen, but we'll see I guess.

Actually I am kind of guy who do not use iCloud for whole backup idea - I use backup on my Mac every month and then backup my Mac on external disc also once a month to prevent losing data. Also every time setting up new iPhone I use restore from Mac so yep, I still use lightning pretty often not counting everyday charging as well.
IMHO bad idea to remove port if the phone still will not be waterproof (in warranty terms).

I’d say it’s likely one more model year away and when they do it it’ll be with one phone not the entire line up. They’ll prime the market and then slowly take it away from the entire lineup aka the iPhone X method.

I’ve ordered an Iphone 12 pro and plan on keeping it for a long while. If in a few years apple does away with the charging port I’ll most likely switch back to android. I’ve realised the Apple Watch is not enough to keep me in this ecosystem. I almost bought the pixel 5 this time round but I thought I’ll spend a little more and hopefully this iPhone can last me at least 2-3 years.

If they want to retire Lightning, they should start to release accessories that could easily drop Lightning in favour of USB-C first. I thought Beats Flex was that start. But now that Apple has launched the AirPods Max that charges via Lightning, I think it's a good reason to keep Lightning on iPhones. The headphones are priced too high it's ridiculous that Apple would make its charger 'obsolete' next year. I never believe iPhone 13 will go portless, and I'm more confident of this since AirPods Max.

CarPlay is also a huge issue. Most cars still don't have wireless CarPlay so a portless iPhone 13 would instantly make CarPlay obsolete. IMO CarPlay should've been wireless since Day 1.

I’ve been debating if I should upgrade my phone from xs max to 12 pro max, but people said that I should wait for the 13 to come out. I’m working and sometimes I have long shift I need easy access to charge my phone and I don’t think wireless phone will be convenient for me. iPhone 12 will be my last upgrade.

The Portless iPhone 13: Let's Talk! [MKBHD]

  Even though these are good, it's hard to recommend them with where the IEM space is right now. You have all these cheaper entries coming out from Tin and Blon and Fiio and Ikko that deliver substantial sound and low prices, and I thought that this would be a similar deal, but they didn't really hit it with this one. Chi-fi has been able to disrupt the sub-$300 space, but above that, they haven't been able to really hit well yet. If Fiio gets the tuning right on the sequel to these, then I could see that being a huge deal, but these aren't really that disruptive

 After messing with these for a couple of weeks, I ordered a set of Campfire Andromedas, which slap these around in many ways and are a significant upgrade. Fiio has done a great job of putting a lot of quality components into these, but they didn't have a great idea of what they were doing with them.  Even though these are good, it's hard to recommend them with where the IEM space is right now. You have all these cheaper entries coming out from Tin and Blon and Fiio and Ikko that deliver substantial sound and low prices, and I thought that this would be a similar deal, but they didn't really hit it with this one

 They can be shouty in the high range, and there isn't much I could do to fix that.  These still sound really good, make no mistake, but the more I listened, the more things just sounded a bit off and unnatural, and no amount of filter swapping could change that. Natural instruments just don't sound lifelike some of the time and some tracks get a bit muddled.  That's the big area of contention for me, because there was a lot of hype and discussion about these being as good or better than plenty of IEMs in the $1,000 range

 How many IEMs should I review in this review? Because I've already got three because I've got them with the three different filters. Then if you throw in that, so three times two, that's six, that's nine, that's twelve. Then you've got to go unbalanced and balanced and double everything up. These are getting a recommendation

 I did have a couple moments where I was getting a bit of a palpitation from some bass. But that was when I took out the filters. We'll talk about the filters, we'll talk about the wires, we'll talk about the different tips. Let's talk about the sound first

 And the FH7, some people are torn on them, but I put them in my ear and I was like, hahahaha. They were like a guilty pleasure of just bass and then sparkly treble and V shape. And they're both comfortable as hell. So this one, the FH7, the top of the line

 Then you've got to go unbalanced and balanced and double everything up. These are getting a recommendation. They may never see a yard sale, but I usually keep IEMs around when I think there's something that's going to be a competition to them in the future and I don't see anything competing with these for a long while, certainly not from FIIA themselves. If you want to see if these end up in a yard sale, they probably won't

Because I know you're all going to be asking me what about the P1s, Zeos, because that's literally the tin P1s have ruined IMs for me. So I'm going to ignore them forever

I quickly became enthralled with audio and quickly followed these up with the Fiio FH7. I was in love.

About 4 months ago I took the plunge into the headphone world by first buying the RHA T20i and then shortly after buying a pair of Sennheiser HD600s. I quickly became enthralled with audio and quickly followed these up with the Fiio FH7. I was in love.

So much so that I was determined to seek out better quality. And surely a pair of the brand new Campfire Audio Solaris 2020's would do the trick. But did it?

I've been listening to the Solaris everyday for about a month now, and I love them. they're highly sensitive, their bass is booming and the details are amazing. I'm really not very good at audiophile terms so sorry for the simple review. But that's sort of my point here. As someone who is new to this hobby and decided to dive right in, I wanted to express my slight disappointment with the Solaris.

I have since also purchased the etymotic ER2XR and the Moondrop Starfields, and the difference in quality between those and my FH7's or my Solaris is very clear, which I love! I love the differences, but again, this come back to the Fiio's versus the campfires.

For 1,050 more dollars, I don't hear a difference. Perhaps I've already reached my peak at 450 dollars? Or maybe I should try something else? I'm not sure, but what I do know is that perhaps I can always be happy spending a little less money. :) Anyway, thanks for reading.

Fiio FH7 and The Campfire Audio Solaris 2020

 I’ve also had Shures and they are similar in fit (and isolation) to the Audiofly’s.  Isolation on the FH7 is also very poor compared to the Audiofly and Shure models which offer probably double the isolation. This is important to me as I commute daily on a train and fly frequently too. I can comfortably wear the Audiofly’s for a 10-11 hour flight and sleep with them in too

 Unfortunately, it wasn’t to be. The Audiofly’s are at least half the size and a quarter of the weight of the FH7 and so much more comfortable as a result. I’ve also had Shures and they are similar in fit (and isolation) to the Audiofly’s.  Isolation on the FH7 is also very poor compared to the Audiofly and Shure models which offer probably double the isolation

Great sounding IEMs but....

 And the detail level, of course, was actually, I suppose, into the high-end, really. Maybe you could, maybe there are some IEMs out there that extract more, maybe I'll find some that do. But all the same, I mean, for under $500, these are kind of a really, a really great buy. And, and for the most part, are really well made

 Now I've had IEMs in here before from Torque Audio, although I didn't review them, which had nozzles with a different shape inside that would distinctly alter the sound profile, and much like you get with tips, you know if you have a narrower bore or whatever, they had different shaped bores to change the sound as necessary, and there are some other IEMs that use this trick as well. The FH7 filters or nozzles or whatever come in this little cool pill-like screwing container, which is super easy to lose, and I've got the the base focused ones here, which are red, the standard ones are black, and there are some treble ones which are green, or it could be around the wrong way, but if we have a close look, it looked like we've got a bore shape change here, so let me just focus in here. You can see that the treble ones, oh the treble is green, I was correct, are straight pass through, whereas it looks like you've got a narrower bore with the standard, and actually the base ones look much the same, but actually this is not true. If you see around the central bore, they are actually passing through the sound, and why is the central bore slightly different? Well, let's take apart the IEMs themselves

 They also have a new cable, and if you see compared to the FH5 cable, well it looks shinier for one, it's got a different weave compared to the FH5 cable, and supposedly is a bit better quality. They also have a pure silver cable, which I have here, which I'll talk about a bit later, but they've gone one up on the FH5. If we go and have a bit of a review of the FH5, which I have a video about entirely if you haven't already seen it. So first on a high, more moderate high-end hybrid IEM, and you can see here I've removed the grills here, which I talked about in the video, but this used a dynamic driver and balanced amateur drivers, but they've upped the technology they've used in the FH7s, where they have a more complex internal structure inside the FH7s for guiding the sound, and this has made for some interesting changes

 But all the same, I mean, for under $500, these are kind of a really, a really great buy. And, and for the most part, are really well made. So, you know, I think a few did a really fantastic job, and I hope my video has given you an impression of how they sound. Thanks once again for watching

My Impulse Fiio Purchases: FH7, LC-RE, K3, UTWS1, HB1

 This was not just a brightness and harshness but an emphasis on sibilance even at low volumes that bordered on painful. To top this all off the bass was missing from the equation and any attempt to pump up the volume to bring up the levels crashed back into the sibilance problem. So I endeavoured to try the filters everyone was raving about, maybe this would be my golden ticket. So out went the default filter and in went the bass filter in hopes of finding the bass but instead just found more of the same

 I left the filter in the default setup and selected the bass tips from the box and set out for my first journey with these iem's. It was an unpleasant journey with the overly bright sounds crushing my hopes for the sound of my dreams. This was not just a brightness and harshness but an emphasis on sibilance even at low volumes that bordered on painful.
