Unfortunately it’s behind a paywall so I can’t access/share it. But their top pick was Fissler vitaquick for its thick bottom, even heat distribution and lid design (among other features).

I used to love using pressure cooker. But it’s been a few years since last time I used one due to travelling, living in small houses etc. Now we are moving to a bigger house with a gas stove, and I’m really excited to get back to using a pressure cooker! I did some online research, and noticed most pressure cookers in the UK are electric ones which I’m not sure about. I found this Tefal secure neo 5, which seems nice and modern with more security features for £70. What are your thoughts on this cooker? Do you have any other advice on others that I can find in the UK? Thanks.

 Safe. The Fissler had a 2 step pressure release valve so it's easy to release from 15 to 7 lbs, and then 7 to 0. Very safe. The first thing I made was Americas Test Kitchen Homestyle Chicken Noodle soup

 You can wash the metal pot in the dishwasher but it takes up so much space that I prefer to wash it by hand. You have to be sure the pressure valve is kept clean and clear of debris. It's not as intuitively obvious as the Presto; keep the directions handy until you've washed it a few times.  Steamer basket is beautifully made

 I'm sure I'll use it some day!  The silicone gaskets are heavy-duty and inspire confidence. They should outlast rubber gaskets by a significant margin. I would keep a spare on hand. Unlike rubber, silicone does not deteriorate on the shelf

 If the vent should clog, a safety plug will pop out.  The handle and the vent remove without tools for washing; be sure they are securely re-attached afterward.  The Fissler is heavier, more sturdy, and shiny but I have to tell you my Fagor cooks the same and lasts as long. HOWEVER there is a big difference that made me buy my own Fissler. The difference is the base of the cooker. The Fissler 8L has a base that is larger than any other cooker

When I did the two cup water test with the replaced valve, lo and behold, the valve closed this time and no more steam leaking through the handle! I've cooked pasta and my dreaded chicken and rice dish and no more burning at the bottom. So I've changed it to a four star rating, one star deducted for the defect with the initial valve.

 But just know that if you get a defective one, it's not an easy fix.  UPDATE: I received the new Eurovalve in the mail last week. It looked exactly like the old part so I had my doubts whether it would make a difference.  We had a classic T-fal pressure cooker for 20+ years that was a regular workhorse of our kitchen. When the handle broke so you could no longer lock the lid on, it was time to replace and as T-fal no longer made the same one/quality, I looked very thoroughly at options for a replacement. I decided on this one hoping it would be quality construction, despite a lot of older negative reviews about problems with the valve. Thankfully, I have had no problems at all with the valve, it works exactly as expected and the locking mechanism is easy and clear

My only complaint is one time I forgot to put water in it (ah, whoops!) and as a result of heating it that way it totally changed color to a gold tone at the bottom of the pot, which kind of made me wonder about it

Overall good but a bit small

 Fix the valve and enjoy your very fine pressure cooker. Eventually the bad taste in your mouth goes away.

 Construction is German, no need to say more. Is it worth the almost $300 I paid? Time will tell. At this point I can write, if I do not use it at least once a week then I have not spent my money wisely. This pressure cooker is constructed for heavy use

I explained my concern & the young lady told me that until the Fissler Eureomatic [safety mechanism] locks the lid & it only locks the lid if it has been closed properly & pressure builds that the lid is locked in place
