I ordered the Flair espresso maker package with two brewing heads. That is so I can pull two shots consecutively without needing to disassemble the hot brewing head for the second shot. On first impression as I assembled the machine it felt to the touch that it is a well-made product with quality solid construction. After I assembled the maker and pulled the first shot the taste was definitely good

Although the maker is of cleaver design, I find that to brew one or two espresso cups that there is too much “fiddling”

  All n’all expect a fair amount of ‘labor of love’ before and after you pull that espresso shot. It’s not a quick and easy morning ‘grab-a-shot’ before heading to work.

The ability to make more than one shot or a long pull requires removal of group, cooling enough to handle, pulling the piston out then resetting on machine (no long pulls). Also found that packing and reassembly causes the parts to start being loose. So my flair signature came today. My overall impressions.. starting with the most important, does it make espresso? Yes

 Now, I suppose I need to acquire a manual grinder as my other option is to pre-grind beans and place them in Ziploc bags. I don't think I like the latter option. If anyone is considering the flair for a portable solution, I can definitely recommend that you do so. However, I would splurge the extra dollars for a signature or Pro series as you get the pressure gauge which I think is critical

  What i dont like: the plastic piston- i think flair should give their costumers a plastic free espresso and by that i mean that hot water flow through stainless all the way.I know its a food grade material but its still a big minus for me. You can buy the stainless piston and the plastic gauge but the plastic gauge adapter will still get in touch with hot water during the brewing so its not an upgrade for me.  Its important to say that flair's customer service answered me very quickly and honestly about why they discontinued the stainless piston that was once included

 Hope that made sense. If you are trying to get the plunger(don't know what they call it) out right after your first shot, you will find that you will need to run the unit (portifilter) under cold water. The heat really locks the plunger in the portifilter or whatever you call that thing. The cold water trick works but you will need to reheat it again before you make your next shot to get the best results

 It is good quality components except for the filter cap, but it too is metal so they clean up easily. The unit can walk on you as you press down. I have found that I can hold the unit with my left on the counter ring while I press down the lever. If the grind is too fine it is really rough to push the lever down so find the sweet spot in your grind that gives you the creme and yet does not take a Cross-Fit workout to get your espresso

If you are new to this like me don't try and pack the Portifilter, I think that is what it is called, compressed to the top. Half to a third works great
