Should I get the Audio Technica LP120 or the Fluance RT80?

Pass on the RT84 and RT85 since for $50 more or the same price the new improved Pro-ject Debut Carbon EVO is a better turntable. The older RT80 and RT81 lack the new speed sensor and the speed may drift over the years so you may at some point need to adjust the speed with a small screw driver from underneath the turntable.

Fluance RT85 vs. Rega Planar 2

The YT channel HiVinyws has audio clips comparing the RT84 (2M Blue) against the Rega P1 and I couldn't hear a difference. The guy claims the P1 is better and it might be, but not on any real noticeable level (listening to the clips). However, there is a huge difference between the P1 and the Pro-Ject DC, so ignore all that gibberish about Pro-Ject being superior to Fluance. The clips don't support that.

Pro-Ject Debut Carbon Evo vs Fluance rt85N

So the tonearm isn't that great of a factor in the overall sound, as it gets beat by the RT84. Also, I don't buy the idea of using pricing as the guide of which is the better unit. Fluance sells direct, giving you bang for the buck. That's why it's about $100 bucks cheaper than the Audio Technica table from the same OEM.

I'm set on purchasing the Fluance RT 85 or 84 soon, got 2 questions 🙏🏻.

The 2M Blue is the thing that makes the RT84 and 85 such a high value product in the first place. The rest of the turntable is fine... decent for the money but nothing special, with a mediocre tonearm.

Time to buy a turntable

Pass on the RT84 since the RT85 is only $50 more. However by then the better Pro-ject Debut Carbon EVO is $100 more at $600..... [U-Turn Pluto $99 shipped is just as good as the Schiit Mani that costs $30 + $12 shipping more.
