I invested $225K in Framework Laptop - 1 Year Update and 12th Gen Upgrade

We started with a pedestrian quad-core Cpu and upgraded all the way to a 14 core in the same chassis.

Ars Technica - Framework’s lightweight modular laptop is a winner

Considering the tradeoff that laptops with better performance/battery use LPDDR4 (soldered to the board) and lower power SSD's, the Framework laptop is very competitive. I'm hoping that Framework/the community release better components (e.g. screens, trackpad, keyboards) in the future.

I researched/waited years for the perfect laptop and settled on an X1 Carbon Gen 9. Here's why it's going back...

Framework laptop doesn't really seem like a Thinkpad competitor because of the relatively poor ergonomics. Basic chiclet keyboard, no mouse buttons, no trackpoint. Being able to upgrade the guts is not that compelling when the chassis (the permanent part) is underwhelming.

Help me pick a laptop.

I'm not familiar with the Lenovo laptop and I've not used either of them, but the Framework laptop looks impressive simply because it's the only laptop I know of that is designed to be easily repaired and upgraded. As a long-term investment it's probably the better option.
