I’m looking to run an ethernet cable around the perimeter of my house. I already have a standard cat6 ethernet cable, and I’m wondering if this could be used outdoors for around 15 meters (50ft)? Both inputs will be indoors. Happy to make any optimisations if necessary.

If not, what would be the best way to go about it?

It is a rental property so unfortunately I can’t make any permanent changes (through walls, etc).

Running ethernet cable outdoors

 Connecting to them individually in their web GUI show they're all connected to each other between 3100-3400mbps or just over 3 gigabits. Latency across devices on different access points to the main router do not show any noticeable increases, maybe 0.5-1.5ms increase when using throughput software via wifi

 The first living room unit lasted maybe two weeks before I returned it, and the replacement living room unit lasted maybe 4-5 weeks before problems began. So I am working on returning/replacing the living room unit again, and hopefully the 3rd unit is as reliable as the units I have installed in the office and bedroom.

 Overall, they work good when they work.  What do I mean "when they work"? Well, my living room unit kept freezing or just slowing down to a crawl below 4mbit. Checking what the other MoCA adapters "see" the living room unit connected at remain unchanged, just over 3gbps. However, doing a network throughput behind the access point in the living room fluctuates between 3-10mbps, averaging around 4mbps

 The kicker is that the problem is yet again in the living room. The office and bedroom units have been going strong this whole time for the past couple of months. The first living room unit lasted maybe two weeks before I returned it, and the replacement living room unit lasted maybe 4-5 weeks before problems began. Works Great When it Works...

 Number of channels: 5) they don't work with each other, at least on my network. So the goCoax works fine as a MoCA 2.0 device but not when trying to do 2.5

 I tried various channels (up to 1600) at various points of coax connections with no other devices connected. Same results. The MoCA 1.x give me a rock solid 50-80 Mbps, the goCoax simply can't effectively pass data

). Changing MoCA channels was not as simple as changing router wifi channels for example but once done everything began to work as expected, in all directions.  Update 4/30/2020: Bought a 2nd goCoax directly from the company since Amazon was out of stock. Long story short, the goCoax makes a reasonable MoCA 2

 “Can a network be established with existing coaxial cables?” I googled it and I’ll be damned. There actually was a established network protocol call Multimedia over Coaxial Alliance. And it would pass through up to 2.5Gbps!!! Imagine my surprise

 Pending your setup you will need two or three more coaxial cables. I needed a 3’ one from wall to MoCA adapter, then from there to the modem. Ethernet cable plugged into the router downstairs. Then upstairs, I ended up getting a 25’ cable to go across the room around the corners behind the furniture

 My god, it just works!!! I am consistently pulling 260Mbps upstairs. It is blazing fast through all of the coaxial cables running in my house+ 25’ addition. And I’m running cheap cables too. Not even the quad-shielded ones

Why did I wait?

  My iperf3 speeds between hosts when I only had two of these hooked up on the MoCA network were the same as when it was 2x ECB6200s and 1x Motorola NM-1000 - I tested the two GoCoax 2.5 adapters by themselves because I was concerned about one of the devices limiting the network speed, so that shouldn't be the issue. Speeds were consistently around 850Mbps between hosts on my LAN for all MoCA devices, whereas my 1Gbps ethernet line speed w/ cat6 is 940Mbps. It's still definitely close enough for me to be happy! So, basically I wouldn't recommend upgrading for a speed increase until GoCoax starts using a faster ethernet standard (e

5 standard *should* be faster than 2.0, but it's a bit disingenuous for them to advertise as such because the adapters are limited by their 1Gbps RJ45 interface.  I notified their support that it was their cable that was the issue and that it was working.  I'd like to give this 5 stars as I will be buying additional units for the rest of the house, but cannot since their Ethernet cable was defective and they did not offer to replace a defective item they provided.

I attempted a simple connection from my Starlink Router to a TV set using two of these with a coax cable. It was not initially working. I tried to find a point of contact for the company, but all I could locate was a forum on their website. Their website did not provide any contact info (hence 3 stars for tech support)

 Went back to wi-fi backhaul as it is more reliable than these devices. Avoid these at all costs. They may work for a couple of weeks, but then they will fail and cause nothing but frustration.  8/31/22 - Updating to 4 stars

I have 5 of these and at $300, you would think a simple thing like MOCA would work, but not these devices. Have had them 3 months, and all they do is trash my wifi network as well as the rest of my hard wired devices. Causes ARP storms due to some delay in their hardware. They are about 4-5 firmware versions from having a viable product

Garbage - Much better after custom firmware upgrade

 That cable adapter is connected to the wall which feeds the signal to two other MoCA adapters connected to an access point and a pc in a different room. These things do operate at the full 2.5Gbs but add a slight but unnoticeable signal delay. So pinging is a little longer but download speed does not slow down

Full 2.5Gbs speed.  Remember to use resistors to terminate unused coax ports.

 So I can't use the product for the specific installation, and that's a huge disappointment. I think the data of supported range, cable types and attenuation calculator should all be more exposed and clear to the potential buyers, before they purchase.

 About 6 or 7 years ago I got sick of modem speeds, and setup a wireless repeater to kick the signal out there, as I could get more like 25 mbps repeating to it that way. That has been tolerable until recently. When I am watching streaming and pull up something on the computer and lag things out, it just annoys me lately. I have grumbled about it for months now
