Netgear CM500

The CM500 does get a bit warm though I will say, so that's partly why I've been looking at it as a potential upgrade opportunity. Now that I work from home full time, I'm wondering if I should re-architect my home network to put my work devices on a separate VLAN from my personal stuff (probably makes me sound quite paranoid, but oh well). I know my router doesn't support that with the native firmware, so I would have to flash a different firmware if I want to stick with what I have. I have seen that a lot of the supported models on the Comcast list are combo router/modem devices (like the Netgear CAX80 for example) but I feel skeptical of having both in the same device (though the space savings can be nice and it's the same type of device the ISP themselves would issue).

I currently have a Netgear CM500. From my understanding this Modem can support 300 Mbps down over cable lines per the manufacturer spec.

Moving and needed new router and modem. Pairing this (which I got for $57) with a Netgear CM500 modem (DOCSIS 3.0, 16x4, up to 300 Mbps), which I know is a bottleneck but my internet plan will only be for 200 Mbps and this modem was $27. Figure the router will give my few WIFI 6 devices those benefits and since both are cheap in a few years I can always upgrade either just the modem to a DOCSIS 3.1 one when they come down in price/if I ever go for a faster internet plan or both when 6E routers become more common place/cheaper.

I had set up my Netgear CM500 modem and a router to get my unit's networks up and running. It worked for a week and then this morning I was getting the Walled Garden URL when I tried connecting to the internet. Support said that I need to buy a new modem as the CM500 lost support for Business service back in July. This sounds like bs to me, but I'm not the account holder (just a tenant) so I can only escalate so far for service diagnosis.

I signed up for Performance Pro (200 Mbps) service a few weeks ago. Now I was using my own equipment, a Netgear CM500 to be exact, which is rated for about 350 Mbps on Comcast’s website.
