These are the way to go the annex again, not bad. I want to emphasize that, but just keep in mind it's a little bit more neutral than anything high notes, never ear ringing, never ear singing

 Again, it's not muddy because of the bass, it's just more of a neutral plight, platform, frequency or area. If not forward is not bright and you won't hear the vocals kind of stand out too much as with these. But with that being said, that is not not a bad speaker.  It does have a little bit of weight. So, of course, throwing this in your bag might not be ideal, especially. This is a bass, focus bass, heavy speaker now, with that being said, being heavily bass focus is not necessarily a bad thing if you do value that that's great I've noticed that the bass is very clean from my personal experience here, it's not muddy. It doesn't model into the mid-range as well, but one thing about that mid-range

 I wish there was a a little bit more detail. It went up a little bit higher a little bit more resolution, a very high in folate, cymbal crashes, snares and such rock music. It does good, but again you do lose that crispness on the very top. Here

 I played some songs that were very sharp on my HK and they sound great on these. Overall impression is that it is amazing.

I had the chance to use these two hot pairs of speakers recently so I thought I'd share my impression for anyone who might be interested.

**Background:** *Please read this as it gives you info on my system, room, personal style etc which may impact my impression.* I caught the audio fever a couple of weeks ago. I got so many fevers in the past (motorcycles, cameras, watches etc.) and the only medicine for them is $$$. This time it is ... no different lol. I gave up after a few days of research and with budget of \~$1000, I bought myself an used Cambridge Audio CXA80, couple of cables, a nice Bluetooth receiver and a pair of Triangle Borea BR03. I set it up in my living room, which is \~13x16 and opens to my kitchen (behind the sideboard). Before this set up, I have the Harman Kardon Studio bluetooth speaker (it is amazing for the money btw). 

I considered the Elac UB5.1 before the Triangle, but was cautious about the 4ohm impedance. The idea of having to spend a lot of money in a good and powerful amp to make the speakers sound good is a bit silly tbh, especially at $600. The funny thing is one day after I ordered the Triangle, Elac introduced the UB5.2 with 6ohm at $600 and the price of the first version dropped by $300. Dang it. So long story short, I ended up with both the Triangle and the UB5.2. LOL. (the UB5.1 was out of consideration as I already bought the modest CA amp lol).

The Elac arrived a few days after the Triangle, so this impression is for the Triangle with \~10hrs of play time and the Elac with \~3hrs. So theres my break-in time data for you. 

I also use Spotify high quality + bluetooth for music. Too lazy for anything better than that. 

Now is how these sound and compare:

**1.** **Triangle BR-03:** 

**- Fit and finish:** Really good, looks much higher end than the Elac. Much bigger as well (which I like). The case is solid, but not as solid as the Elac. It might be the reason why the bass is better on the Elac.

**- Low:** It goes low but bass is not super heavy. Dont get me wrong, it is really good but definitely not strong point for the speakers (compared to the Elac). I usually play music with a little bass boost to make the sounds more lively.

**- Mid:** Wow. The mid is the highlight of the speakers. Its amazing, a bit forward, very detailed, great tone, vocals sounds freaking amazing. My music quality is probably not good enough to justify the speakers LOL but I agree with all the reviewers on the mid range of the Triangle.

**- High:** Excellent as well. Very detailed but smooth, airy and not fatiguing. I played some songs that were very sharp on my HK and they sound great on these.

Overall impression is that it is amazing. Very detailed and smooth with emphasis on mid range. Voice and instruments sounds awesome. It produces sound exactly to my taste. The only thing I wish it is better is the ability to "disappear". I dont know how to achieve it but there are several occasions where I dont know where my cheap HK is playing from, but for the Triangles, I always know exactly the location of the speakers. 

**2. Elac UB5.2:** 

**- Fit and finish:** It is solid. Better than the Triangle in this regard. It is smaller but weight the same as the Triangle I think. The look is plain and it looks and feels a bit cheaper than the Triangle.

**- Low:** Better than the Triangle. Bass is tighter and has more energy to it. I played some songs with super fast bass and the Triangle is kinda struggling but its totally fine on these. I'm kinda surprise as the woofer is smaller on the Elac

**- Mid:** A bit more recessed compared to the Triangle. I think it has tiny bit more detail than the Triangle (or maybe thats my imagination). The sound however is not as smooth and round as the Triangle, especially the vocals. 

**- High:** Again, a bit more recessed. But the detail is really good. Nothing to complain here.

Overall, the Elac is better in some areas and not as good in others compared to the Triangle. They have very similar sound signature though. I think the Triangle sounds more coherent and fit a bit better to my taste. Maybe the Elac needs more playtime or a better amp idk but in the few hours I have it, sometimes, I feel the sound was confusing. The Triangle is consistently good. My GF who knows nothing about hifi also prefers the sound of the Triangles.

To add on the difference in sound, I much prefer the look of the Triangle. So the Triangle stays, Elac goes back. I'm sure many others will be more happy with the Elac tho.

80w might not be enough to expand the lungs of the Elacs, BR03's are just easier to drive and most consider it to be a brighter speaker

I think speakers are snake oil.  I got 3 dollar speakers that sound as good if not better than my Wharfedale Diamond 225's or my Infinity R162's.  It is all about lots of good clean power and your shit speakers will sound better than you think. 

my 3 dollar speakers sound fantastic driven with >125wpc RMS...with the volume set low enough not to blow the speakers.

Elac Uni-fi UB5.2 vs Triangle BR-03 mini review

Much better choices

 Kardon did a great job with the buttons they are simple but minimal. At the same time, in total we have six buttons that wrap around the rubber lining of the speaker. I love how the buttons are smooth from the surface and dough stick out, starting from the left side of the speaker. We have the Bluetooth button, the connect button which allows you to connect other Harman Kardon speakers together, and we can actually pair up to a hundred plus speakers

 But if you are someone that would rather have a more forward sound signature with less bass and what a speaker that is more portable with lots of durability than the extreme 2 and the UE mega blast are some great speakers as well.  We do have access to Google assistant or Siri, which is very nice by holding down the button [ Music ] in terms of Bluetooth. The onyx 4 has bluetooth 4.2, which has good range with no connection issues in terms of extra features. We don't have a whole lot, but that is to be expected in this price range

 Onyx 4 beats his competitors. Now I am a huge bass lover and I love that extra thump with my music. But if you are someone that would rather have a more forward sound signature with less bass and what a speaker that is more portable with lots of durability than the extreme 2 and the UE mega blast are some great speakers as well. i just got 2 of these speakers, first let me say the sound is awesome and I love them. Now here is the bad part. YOUR APP sucks HK Connect needs to be redone, after installing it, all it does is discovering I have connected the speakers to the wifi on my phone and can play music. Mind you that the stereo mode works likes this

 My name is Ernie, and this is the Onyx studio for, if you've already seen a review of this speaker - and you just want to hear the sound quality, then just go ahead and skip to the timecode on the screen. Okay, before we get started, I would like to disclose that this video is not sponsored. I purchased this speaker at full price for this review, so my thoughts and opinions are entirely personal and with that out of the way, let's get started. Okay in the Box, you get original power, cords, Quick, Start Guide, safety and warranty sheets and, lastly, the Bluetooth speaker and at the time of recording this video

 It'S actually not too bad. That being said, I also tried it with a movie on Amazon, Prime and it worked perfectly, but on iPhone and Android and the audio stayed in sync. Well, I guess that's all the cons that I could find so do I recommend this speaker and here's what I'm going to say if you're only going to use it to play audio over Bluetooth connection, then absolutely I would 100 % recommend it. The bass response is beautiful for the small form factor

 And, lastly, you have the power port for connecting the charger. Bear in mind that the Onyx 4 cannot charge via microUSB and you're always going to need the power brake to charge it up. Also on here, it's got. I found that the vocals were clear and they didn't sound muffled the highs and the mid sounded more like they were closer to being flat, which is a good thing, probably with a slight dip in the mids and maybe a rolloff in the highs

 Well, I guess that's all the cons that I could find so do I recommend this speaker and here's what I'm going to say if you're only going to use it to play audio over Bluetooth connection, then absolutely I would 100 % recommend it. The bass response is beautiful for the small form factor. I think it's very impressive, plus you're, also getting a stylish design and getting your hands on one of these for under 150. I had high hopes, I normally buy jbl, I changed it up. The sound is a good crisp quality. I bought this to be the outdoors deck speaker. But the negative is the battery doesn't last long maybe 2 hours

Paired with IPhone XR and IPhone 11. In the future with newer iPhones.

All kinds of music.

Got a little child at home so nice if it were durable.

Which one will be better? Sony is around 40 euro/usd cheaper than HK in my country. Or should I look at something else?
