HP's Envy laptop for creatives is an unassuming performance monster
Josh Goldman/CNET
You know the expression about having the right tools for the job? If you're making a laptop aimed at creatives, it's not enough to just put discrete graphics and a strong processor in a slim body. The extra performance really should be paired with a good screen, and that's w...
HP Envy 14 - An INCREDIBLE Performer That Proves We've BEEN RIPPED OFF FOR YEARS!!
If it was around 1 200 us dollars, then absolutely i would be recommending it at that price point. It would be a good option for video editors on a budget and people who want a solid amount, more power than a regular portable laptop. I do wish this laptop came with an amd ryzen 5000 processor, though the nb14 has excellent thermals and that would have elevated it from a very good laptop to an exceptional one.
Back on Linux (after one year of Apple and OS X)
On the authors point anyway, there ARE laptop makers who make hardware of that quality. I bought a HP Envy 14 last March, solid metal with a high quality screen, huge multi-touch touchpad, no fans on the bottom, no stickers all over the place, switchable graphics. Wonderful backlit island-style keyb...
HP Envy 14 is great. Dell XPS 15 and HP Spectre 14 are also good but a lot more expensive.
Nice! how's the battery life?
the price range (in Malaysia) make me considering between this and Envy 14 2021.
The OLED screen + seems nicer speaker + power efficient Ryzen 5800u make me considering this against Envy 14.
I came from an HP Envy to a Dell XPS 9500, and can say that even with it's faults, Dell is 100% better than HP.
Had this with the HP Envy last year and returned it. It was bugging me no end.
Over the past decade, I have used many HP Envy and Spectre laptops with Linux without any issue and am very happy with it. My current Spectre x360 15in is a 2017 model and ticks most of your boxes, newer ones can tick the rest.
It's a great laptop, but I had a hard time using it
This is an good laptop, if you just want to use it with only what hp give to you. I brought this laptop for external gpu, yet the fps drop is amazing. Rtx3090 fps dropped around 50%, which is definitely not normal for thunderbolt 4. I trouble shootted it every way I can and search extensively on int...
Ask HN: MacBook Pro still preferred laptop for non-MS development?
macbook pro 13" fan here - you can throw up to 16 gigs or ram in it, and an ssd/hdd combo. wait another month for the new ones to come out though. If I had to buy a non-apple laptop right now though with linux in mind, it'd likely be a hp envy 14 spectre at some big discount. other contenders would b...
