HP ProBook 445 G8

Graphics: AMD Radeon(TM) Graphics, Graphics driver: 27.20.21002.112, Bios version: 01.02 measured on HP Probook 455 G8. Testing done using the system's out-of-box performance profile, with Windows EPP slider set to "better performance". Observed 15W sustained power level with bursts at ~25W from AMD's μProf tool. Testing as of May 21, 2021.

I would use this to work mostly on excel with very large and complex spreadsheets. I will also use the laptop to run meetings hence the need for pen support as well as the convertible form factor. I've been looking at 2 in 1 laptops. I would like something with a lot of processing power (perhaps a Ryzen 7), however the only one I can find is an HP Probook 435 G8 (Ryzen Pro 5850U, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD, Windows Pro, 3yr Warranty), which would not ship until September...

- Brand new HP Probook 455 G8: with Ryzen 5 5600U, 2 upgradable RAM slots, but the battery is only 45Wh. Price: 750$. I'm a computer science student, and my daily work only consists of simple programming exercises, and some data science pet project, which does not require much resources. Even when I have to train computer vision models, I only use cloud GPU.

Moreover, during idle use the temperature hovers around 50-60°C and during gaming (GTA 5 Full HD) I see it mostly averaging around 75°C with a peak at 88°C. I purchased this laptop for two reasons.

They sent us a brand new HP Probook 450 G8 (so this one was a newer model - sent in early Jan 2022). This laptop immediately had issues and the main one being the laptop screen would completely turn off/black with no way of turning it back on, and the power button would blink orange and do nothing else but that. The keyboard would respond by turning the lights on but anything else done to it would lead to nothing. We tried everything possible to get the screen to turn on or respond but nothing - so we went to store and even they couldn’t get anything to open.
