 I love that you can add noodles to it, you can put it over rice whatever you like. So we're gonna go ahead and get it started cooking. Okay, now that I have this sealed, I'm gonna push this soup broth button and it's set for 30 minutes. but I'm gonna cook it for an hour and a half since this is a whole chicken all the way to one hour and 30 minutes

 So I feel like this is basically the best kitchen appliance anybody could have. So today I'm going to show you how I make one of my most very basic recipes that we use very, very often. Especially now that it's winter time, I'm gonna make some chicken soup. This is the most simple recipe

 Okay, now that I have this sealed, I'm gonna push this soup broth button and it's set for 30 minutes. but I'm gonna cook it for an hour and a half since this is a whole chicken all the way to one hour and 30 minutes. Okay, there we go, Then we just let it do its thing. it's going to come out to pressure on its own and then we'll check back in after the hour and a half is up

Of course I do. Instant Pot says it's safe to do so, and I have no reason not to believe them. And so far, 4 years in, it's been fine.

I know Instant Pot says the lid is dishwasher safe, as long as you remove the sealing ring and anti-block shield, but I never have. I just wipe it down with a damp cloth. Am I being paranoid? 

Has anyone consistently run theirs through the dishwasher with no issues long term?

Self depressurizing function quit on the forth use

 it's got this really cool, um little fire in the pot thing that is not the burn notice. A lot of people brand new cooks get worried like oh no, it's the burn notice. Nope, It's your signal that the saute button is on. It's preheating

 or yeah, you can get away with a little bit less, but only if the recipe that you're using specifies that until you learn. yeah, especially when you're a beginner. You want to make sure that you're following a trusted recipe, so you've checked the pots in place, you've checked, there's water in the pot Next check to make sure that silicone ring that we talked about is in place fully and then you'll want to match up the lid. You see how there's kind of this bigger notch side and there's the bigger notch side on the pressure cooker

 I baby my pots and I hand wash the whole thing. So um, yeah, it just takes up too much space. I find because I've got lots of glasses all the time, so I prefer to wash that, but it's really whatever you prefer. Yeah, if you do wash this by hand, you want to be careful not to submerge it in the water

 If you're cooking. foods that release a lot of liquid while they cook like berries. or yeah, you can get away with a little bit less, but only if the recipe that you're using specifies that until you learn. yeah, especially when you're a beginner

How to Use the Instant Pot Duo Nova

I just bought my first IP, heard many great things so I am anxious to learn. I am in need of some killer low carb yet delicious chicken recipes.

It's ok

  If you do then the problem is the lid locking mechanism is restraining the float pin valve from rising.

Another thing you should check is the Float Pin Valve.  While the lid is off, check if there's any resistance lifting the Float Pin Valve so the stopper is touching the flat against the lid.  If there is any resistance more than the weight of the pin, then remove the stopper and the float pin valve from the hole and clean all three.  There could be debris or residue impeding its movement

There are two other areas that needed to seal on the lid in order for the Instant Pot to pressurize; the float pin valve and the steam release handle.  

  At that point, the weight of the Steam Release Handle keeps a safe amount of pressure inside of the pot.

I received an instant pot as a gift a year ago but was unable to use it until now. I excitedly got everything out, cleaned everything and set it up for the water test, only for the instant pot to not make a seal. The seal is definitely in the seal position and the plastic ring is in new condition. I ran the water test, it did not seal so I set it up for a second water test and it again did not seal (it is possible that the seal at the point of the second test was too warm and expanded).

I used 3 cups of water, pressure cook 5 minutes it has been on this second attempt for almost 30 minutes now and has not even reached the five minute countdown.
