1 with the 3 you're getting Bluetooth 5.3 so better connectivity but here's the biggest difference that i noticed the speaker setup now in the Boombox 2 you got two 40 watt woofers and two 40 watt tweeters with the Boombox 3 you got an extra speaker so you got one 80 watt woofer two 40 watt mids and two 10 watt tweeters so theoretically it should sound better but everything looks better on paper we're gonna have to put it to the test in the real world all right so let's unbox it and see what it is now the side note i'm upstairs in my attic where all these loud speakers be playing white shoes does not like loud music so she got the day off all right so here's what you get in the box got your usual books and shit plug them and file them and you get your plug now here's another difference that i just noticed with the Boombox 3 you got this kind of plug with the Boombox 2 this kind of plug now here's the front of the speaker now if you notice you got a big JBL logo instead of the small one on the Boombox 2 and now you have a metal handle instead of the plastic with the same rubber grips on the inside now here's all your buttons so you got your party boost you got play and pause volume up and down power and bluetooth pairing you also have an led indicator for your battery levels now the speaker is covered in a waterproof fabric now on the left of the speaker you got a JBL logo and there's your radiators they're going to be vibrating like crazy the right of the speaker looks exactly the same another radiator now here's the back of the speaker nice and clean same waterproof fabric and you got a flap to cover up your components let's take a look at those all right so here's your input for your plug you got a usb-a in so you can charge up your phone or your tablet or whatever you got and a 3.5 auxiliary input for non-bluetooth devices now the speaker is fully waterproof so you cover up that flap and jump in the water now here's another feature you do get wireless updates so i just downloaded the JBL app and let's perform the update all right so now let's take a look at the JBL app simple and straightforward you got the name of the speaker a picture of the speaker and your battery percentage now you got a fully functional EQ you can turn your feedback tone on and off you got your user guide you can check for software updates and you have your party boost switch all right so now let's do a sound test now i'm going to start off at 50 volume with the EQ set to the stock settings here we go make sure you put your headphones on so okay now you can feel that bass at 50 volume let's try this now i'm going to switch the EQ settings i'm going to add a little bit more bass and a little bit more treble still at 50 volume here we go so okay now the bass on this speaker is so deep and clean i love it already now everybody knows JBL speakers get more watts when you plug it in so now let's try that same test plugged in all right so now the speaker is plugged in at 50 volume with my favorite EQ setting here we go so all right so now let's do that same test but this time maximum volume here we go so all right now one of the things that JBL claims about the boombox 3 is that you could rock this at max volume with zero distortion so let's try a few more tracks at max volume here we go so now this speaker sounds so crystal clear and clean let's try one more so All right, now I don't know if this YouTube mic is gonna do this video justice, but sitting right in front of the speaker, it sounds absolutely incredible. It's super loud, the highs and mids are crystal clear, but the bass, this is why you like JBL speakers, and this is why I buy JBL speakers, the bass

 yo what's up everybody it's your boy Floss back again with another video and today we're going to take a look at the JBL Boombox 3 now you can pick this one up online i'll put a link up in the description the price on this one 500 bucks alright so let's go through all of the specs now this is bluetooth version 5.3 it's ip67 dust and water resistant the speaker weighs 14 pounds now you're getting JBL's signature sound from a three-way speaker design so that's 180 watt sub 240 watt mids and two 10 watt tweeters now the battery life on this is 24 hours and it takes six hours to fully charge now you got party boosts so you can pair up multiple JBL speakers you got a built-in power bank a 3.5 auxiliary input for non-bluetooth devices and you can use the JBL app to customize all of the settings all right so all that for 500 bucks let's see what it is now at the end of this video i'm going to answer two questions number one is this speaker really worth 500 bucks and number two is this an upgrade from the JBL Boombox 2 now if you go online Amazon or JBL.com the Boombox 2 and the Boombox 3 are both the same price so what's the difference well there's a couple of key upgrades now the Boombox 2 that's IPX7 water resistant the Boombox 3 IP67 dust and water resistant so you're getting more durability now the Boombox 2 that's 13 pounds the Boombox 3 is 14 pounds so it's a little bit heavier now with the Boombox 2 you're getting Bluetooth 5

 All right, so to make this test fair, I got both speakers plugged in, both speakers are fully updated with the same EQ settings. Here we go. Regrettably you can only select each (highs, mids, bass) between -2 and +2, so no in between option or more settings available. For that price it just too expensive at the moment in my opinion and I would only recommend it to people that are really enjoying listening to music at higher volume and have the option and location to do so

 I would say the speaker sounds the best when you are listening to EDM, Hip Hop, Rock and Pop music. The highs are fine, some details in comprehensive songs don't show up unfortunately, the mids are audible and present, but miss some clarity directional, the bass on the other hand is just awesome but I would put it down to -1 at the EQ settings. The mids and high +1, respectively. Then it sound the best in my opinion

First of all the design and the processing quality are well refined and the orange spots on the logo brand and under the handle are just impressive. The speaker is indeed very heavy and it's definitely not an item that you just move from one to another spot quickly despite of carrying it longer ways. The speaker has the latest Bluetooth 5.3 version, so you get the state of the art

The sound of this boombox is out of this world! The treble is crisp, the bass is deep and punchy and there is so much sound coming from a medium sized boombox. Battery life is also amazing. The only drawback in my opinion is that it's bulky/awkward when carrying. Built in strap attachment poibts would have been amazing

Would you recommend the boombox 2?

 Two suggestions I can make is maybe a detachable handle so if you want to put the unit on a shelf or tight area and leave it, you can have it blend into the decor easier. The second is I’m hoping they make the equalizer in the app wider and more sensitive so you can really cue in the sound to your liking. Over all, on a scale of 1-10, I give the JBL Boombox 3 a 11. Great job to the folks at JBL! You hit it out of the park

 Now the best part is the 3.18” actual sub woofer in the middle of the Boombox which delivers a powerful bass sound that truly is unbelievable. One of the best features is the ability to charge your phone or device right from the unit. The Li-ion battery gives a impressive 24 hrs of play time so you can party all night and not run out of power

 Over all, on a scale of 1-10, I give the JBL Boombox 3 a 11. Great job to the folks at JBL! You hit it out of the park

Looking for a good All-Weather Bluetooth Speaker. $300(ish) budget

I have several JBL Charge Speakers which pack an awesome sound among other great features. The JBL Boombox 3 is another level. Right off the bat, I’ll say it’s a five-star product hands-down. Here’s why: I have been putting this thing to the test and have been pretty amazed with the sound, durability, and battery life

 I felt like a teenager again. Imagine a grown man, running around and chasing the kids with it, blasting my choice of 80’s music. Yes, I did that! The sound is incredible and will shake the house if you crank it up. Otherwise, playing it at a low-level volume is great too with rich sound delivered by its three-way speaker system made up of a powerful subwoofer and two tweeters

 Let me tell you, this thing rocked the neighborhood. It was throwing sound all over the place and sounded like I had speakers mounted everywhere. Oddly enough it felt like it performed even better outside. We linked it up with our other JBL’s via “Party Boost” and had sound in and out of the house
