 The turbo tool does well for stairs, but you run out of hose very quickly. Again, there's a recurring theme with the hose [Music] Due to the power of the machine, the stretch hose does not like to stretch. The reach with the hose is advertised to be 10 feet, but looking at it honestly, it's more like five feet

 The benefit of this is that there are no belts to replace. There is an overload protector in case something gets caught in the roller. The switch is conveniently on the handle. This vacuum cleaner uses modern hepa cloth bags which are very nice to use

 The bag simply pulls out of the chamber and a new one presses in its place. There is a pre-motor filter which is there to protect the motor in case anything happens to the bag. They do still sell paper bags for this, but I would highly recommend the cloth ones. [Applause] Replacing the hepa filter is easy as well

So we're going to be taking a look at the Kenmore Elite Model 31150 Upright Vacuum Cleaner. This is the same machine as the Bu1017 and Bu1018 with the only difference being the color as you can probably see from all the scratches on it. I did get this used but I did go through it and it is working as intended. The height adjustment is a very nice feature and it allows you to adjust almost any carpet type

I never knew how much I would enjoy reading this subreddit but it's become truly addictive. That said, I'm in the market for a new vacuum cleaner.

Budget - Under 350 preferably

Flooring - 50% Hard floor (wood &amp; tile); 30% area rugs; 20% carpet (one large bedroom).

Additional considerations - I have a french bulldog who sheds (not a ton but definitely noticeable). I'd like to have a hose, tube, etc. so that I could use the vacuum on upholstery and for something akin to a dustbuster.

I've considered this hoover (link below) but wasn't sure how good it would be on the hard floors, and it also doesn't have much versatility in terms of cleaning upholstery. I've also heard good things about Karchers but similarly wasn't sure how good it would take care of the hard floors.  I currently have a Dyson v6 animal that is pretty old, so I was thinking that I could get something without a wand or handheld attachment and just keeping using the stick for hard to reach places.

You will need the tools to get under things because no amount of lowering of the upright part will get you under a bed or a couch. See #3. Flipside? So it was really bulky, heavy, loud, and HOT. I am seeking a upright (or if someone can convince me otherwise to a different type), hopefully self propelled, carpet capable vacuum. Also a detachable hose with some accessories is required. I would love to have a HEPA filter but that is optional. I am scared of buying vacuums off of amazon because they seem like they only last about a year. Also Dyson seems nice but is way out of my price range. Also if someone can point me out a nice carpet cleaner for about the same price that would be also much appreciated. Thank you!!!

1st Time Buyer

 Sad you have to damn near save your old vacuum parts to get the satisfaction of a new vacuum. I’ve only owned for about 4-5 months. I bought after extensive research and highly recommended consumer reports. I would return it but it does do an amazing job deep cleaning pet hair & embedded dust/grime out of carpets

Have an 18 year old Eureka Boss bagged with Hepa filter that is still soldiering along. I can see that it probably is near EOL with hose failure most likely to be the event. Bags, filters, rollers and belts are still available.

If I have to replace what are recommendations from this sub.

Want upright, corded, bagged, belt driven brush, settings for both carpet and wood and have extension hose with some attachments. Looking on the internet there seem to be few options that are bagged. Bag less and cannister vacs are a no go.

Vacuum under $300 for pet hair?

 #2" the extension rod is too short also for reaching under furniture; I kinda' solved that by going through other vacuum parts that I have and attached an extender to the Kenmore extender and now it is about 5 feet long and my wife loves it EXCEPT that if you reach too far, again the vacuum falls over. A SIMPLE SOLUTION: Kenmore should have a consumer panel made up of real users like my wife. They would tell Kenmore engineers immediately that this Vaccuum has flaws and is dangerous (but also it is great for vacuuming floors). Too often, the tech people do not see reality
