You know implemented ergonomic incline on the sky and some pop out feet as well, but anyways, if you're still here, to check out this keyboard. Let'S take a look at it.  The old one was just this big chunky board, sat flat and sat down, and for me it was unusable. It'S just like you need a wrist rest.  It'S a solid keyboard and again going back to one of my other favorites, the k6 over here right to 65, where you're losing that top row comes at the same price. You'Re talking 89.99 bucks again, you can get it down. I believe 69 bucks without the metal frame without the rgb and stuff like that k6 hot swap around 100 price range k2 is not hot swap, but the k2 can get 100 bucks and get it right with some pbt keycaps

 That kind of gives you all the shortcuts very handy, especially if you decide to change your keycaps on the sky. You can get your detachable usbc cable, as you can see, it has that l bracket right there, nice heavy duty and braided. You can get a keycap puller here and then some replacement keycaps. If you want to set it up to like a windows layout right there

 Good luck on your journey to find one that doesn’t smell. I ordered a redragon tkI one and hope to replace the belkin one I have banished to the outside of my house. Back to the keyboard, I really didn’t think I’d care for the lights, so I went with the white backlight and absolutely love it (I have it set to light up the key you press). The versatility to have it wired or Bluetooth is excellent and I’ve had no delay when it’s connected either way to my Mac

  Update: soooo… I had to get rid of it. After a couple weeks and every wrist rest and desk arrangement I could find, it was too tall for me. Key travel, cool lights and clacking were great, but if your typing style isn’t the best (mine isn’t) you may find yourself with wrist pain and numb hands. I moved to the MX Keys (VERY different, I know) and am really happy with the much lower profile that one has

I’m not a gamer, but I’m in IT support so I’m behind a keyboard a lot and this is an absolute pleasure to type on - to the point where I am trying to find excuses to use my computer instead of my phone when I can. I went with the reds and they are not loud at all and have a great tactile feel and pleasant clack to them. It’s a good size, although as others have mentioned, it’s tall. You’ll need a wrist rest

A review from not a gamer - I love(ed) this thing for a couple weeks

2nd custom keeb that I got for my workdesk. I wanted something with a numpad and the USB passthrough was nice so I could use a wireless mouse.



Overall, the board feels solid, no flex, pretty hefty, and has some pretty useful features, though it falls short a bit for a keyboard enthusiast.



It features hotswap switched, only comes with the blue backlighting but supposedly there will be a full RGB version down the road. Hopefully that will include some tweaks as there are a few things I took issue with.



Firstly, it cannot be dissasembled. I know some other Royal Kludge boards have guides walking you through how to take it apart, however this one has no such guide and the screws securing the plate to the case are not all accessible. There are a couple points where there's obviously a standoff, but the screw was welded over or soldered over, making this keyboard impossible to fix if you end up breaking a hotswap socket, and completely prevents any sound dampening from being added.



That being said, the case sounds very solid out of the box, though the stabs are complete trash- too much play in the housing on the stabilizers. The keycaps are quite thin and do not block the back light at all despite not being "shine-through" keycaps- sort of like holding a bright flashlight up to you fingers, you'll see the keycap stem and supports underneath. 



Upgrading the stabilizers and keycaps are almost a must for this keyboard and really improve it quite a bit. I went a step further and got Durock Daybreak silent linears to swap in since I knew I needed to quiet the keeb a bit and wasn't about to pay >$1/switch for Zeal silent anything. 



Unfortunately, this keyboard has raised SMD LEDs. The Keychron K2 hotswap does not, and that was my first keyboard, so I didn't even think about it when I purchased the Royal Kludge RK100. This meant that the bottom housing of the Durck switches was incompatible- but I didn't want to buy another set of switches and let these gather dust, so I frankenswitched them with the Gateron Reds that came with the board, using only the Gateron bottom housing so they would fit in the board. I also lubed&filmed the switched which gave them a very snug fit.



I picked my Royal Kludge RK100 up for $80, it's usually $90 but there was a coupon that popped up on amazon. For $80, I couldn't be *too* upset about the lack of dissasembly options and the raised LEDs, but had I known that was the situation, I likely would have just gotten a Keychron K4 instead for a little bit more.


Pros:
- cost
- heft
- relatively quiet case
- connectivity (bluetooth, 2.4ghz, and wired)
- USB passthrough (wired mode only)



Cons:
- cannot dissasemble for modification or repair
- thin keycaps
- rattly stabilizers
- raised SMD leds
- ONLY in blue backlit option (at the moment)
- no layout customization


Really, if you are gentle when installing switches, and dont intend to do anything more than swap keycaps, stabs, and switches, then the Royal Kludge RK100 is okay. If you want to modify the board in any other way though, from painting, to sound dampening, or repair the hotswap sockets, you'll be SOL on this one. Overall, 3/5, it's okay if you don't need to take it a part OR if you really need the USB pass through on a budget. Otherwise, I'd recommend something else entirely.

Royal Kludge RK100, Durock Daybreak Silent Linears, KAT PBT

I bought the K2 keyboard due to massive positive reviews on youtube. However, this keyboard doesn't really live up to its praises received from Youtube reviewers. If you buy the plastic version, it feels really cheaply made. Even for the Aluminum version, only the sides are made of Aluminum and the entire back is still plastic

 The build quality doesn't justify the price tag.  Another big drawback for me is the height, especially the front height. It is so high that typing on it without a palm rest is very uncomfortable to me.  I do like its comparability with both Windows and Mac, and the fact it includes those keys for mac, which is really rare in mechanical keyboards these days

 If you buy the plastic version, it feels really cheaply made. Even for the Aluminum version, only the sides are made of Aluminum and the entire back is still plastic. The build quality doesn't justify the price tag.  Another big drawback for me is the height, especially the front height

 It reminds me of dollar store injection-molding products.  The keyboard bottom frame is also much cheaper.  Overall, I don't think this was a good purchase. I think the quality should be nicer for the money, and I think the product photos are a bit misleading
