 For any unsuspecting civilian typist, the Keychron brand might have popped up somewhere before, meaning it's a brand that appears less threatening. Not saying that Rama Works makes people poop their pants, but well, maybe their prices do. Regardless, they serve very different audiences. Keychron is marrying mainstream appeal with custom values here, which is what makes this board a great recommendation for anyone who's even remotely interested

 For the latter version, you also get these new keycaps from Keychron, sporting an OSA profile, which is a first for them I believe. You've never heard of OSA before, it's a combination of OEM and SA style profiles, hence the name. Think of them as taller chairs with an SA on top. I really like the looks of them too, but they're not as remarkable as the first impression might convey

 It's no secret that I'm a big fan of Keychron, especially the K6, which I deemed the perfect entry into the custom market a while back. And while I stand by my words, I'd say the space has undoubtedly changed since then. Or maybe I'm just closer to the deep end and got a considerably different view from back here. So what happened since? Well, Glorious released their GMNK Pro, Keychron immediately followed up with the Q1 and many other smaller or bigger manufacturers began offering much more wallet-friendly alternatives

. Needless to say, i didnt want to risk any warranty issues by having to take apart a brand new keyboard and do a mod like that.

Ended up returning my Q2 (sadface) it has a deal breaker....

 The only issue I have with the board is what they call the guide pins. Little pins that are part of the case. They were all snapped off when I first opened the keyboard. I had a replacement sent to me and after carefully opening the second keyboard 2/3 of the pins were broken

Super happy with how my Keychron Q2 turned out! Built on barbone ISO, fitted with silent alpaca switches + stabilizers and Tai-Hao Sunshine keycaps.

Honestly, just get a Keychron Q2 with Gateron Pro Red switches. It's your best bet under $200 and you won't need to mod it or do anything to it. If it is too loud, get some silent linear switches.

What’s a good keyboard that fits my requirements? Any help or advice appreciated! ^__^

I'm very happy with the look and feel of this beautiful keyboard. The Gateron brown switches are perfect for my FPS sessions and the deep thoccy sound form every keystroke make writing emails a pleasure. The board was initially not recognized when my PC awoke from sleep or a restart, but loading the JSON file into the VIA app solved this problem. I've done the masking tape mod to the bottom of the PCB to get a slightly less ringing sound, but out of the box, this board looks and sounds wonderful

Okay the thing people don't tell you about keyboards is that it's very very subjective. What people describe as "too much" <pingy/hollow/muted/loud/honka-honka> maybe be perfect for someone else.

That being said, this is my take. 

My first mech was a Razer huntsman elite v1 full size with purple clicky switches. I was so into he clickyness. But I grew out of it in a year. 

My second keyboard was an OLKB planck. Durock L2 60g switches. Too extreme a jump for me. It was too small and I missed being able to game freely. I had to QMK in more layers for games. 

The gmmk pro sits in a sweet spot 75%. It has the function row, the arrow cluster and 4 more nav buttons and a knob if you're into that.

About the gmmk: the stock plates, both aluminium and pc were a nightmare when I tried my durock v2 stabs. I ended up getting an FR4 plate from AVX Works. That's just a charm. I use the stock foams none of the extra gaskets and everglide aqua kings 55g linears.

But now almost a year into this, I find that the 55g switches are too light to me.

I changed my planck from stock Drop body to an EOTW plate and baseplate and IMO it sounds better and feels better, but I use it only for work.

If the gmmk pro is your first board, I recommend getting the AVX plate or any aftermarket plate to fit in your own stabilizers. At 170 dollars (IIRC) it's a good starting point.

For alternatives try the new keychron q2. I've heard it offers more options to tinker with it than the gmmk. Are you willing to try an 80%? Or maybe 65%? You could get wider options there.

I've decided I don't need the function row as much and I'm getting a Tokyo60, it's on the way.

I’ve got 7 boards, I own 3 60%, a 65%, a 70%, and a GMMK Pro and a Keychron Q1 which are both 75%s. I would 100% say the GMMK Pro is worth it. Great board.
