I currently have a System76 Gazelle work laptop from 2 years ago that I have hooked up to 3 external monitors ( mini displayport, hdmi and display port over usbc ).  I am looking to get a new personal laptop for development projects outside of work and still want to be able to hook up to 3 external 2k monitors.  I am currently looking at the current gen Gazelle but would need the Nvidia 3060 to have 3 display outputs with 32gb of ram that puts me around 2300. Is there a comparable machine from another vendor that will still support 3 external monitors?

Traditionally, mobile workstations offer the highest performance and are easy to maintain. In return, users are happy to put up with larger and thicker cases. However, this no longer applies in full. Yes, the maintenance options of the current ThinkPad P15 Gen 2 are excellent, but the expensive workstation suffers especially in terms of performance and cooling

 Inevitably, you have to ask yourself why you still need such a thick case nowadays when the performance (both of the CPU and the GPU) as well as the temperatures are worse than in modern gaming laptops or even thinner mobile workstations at times. For the CPU, we would've also wished for a slightly more dynamic management (higher TDP under CPU-only load).The ThinkPad P15 Gen 2 is very disappointing, and it struggles with high temperatures and loud fans under load. However, the new RTX A3000 delivers good performance and provides a significant boost compared to the old Quadro GPUs

 However, this no longer applies in full. Yes, the maintenance options of the current ThinkPad P15 Gen 2 are excellent, but the expensive workstation suffers especially in terms of performance and cooling. Verdict - The P15 Gen 2 shows particular weaknesses in its cooling system

Lenovo Thinkpad x13 Gen 2, T14 or T14s. Get the Ryzen versions for way better battery and fantastic performance.

The 32gb ram and 1tb ssd is what you need.

Possibly a workstation laptop like a ThinkPad P15 with the best cpu and video card that you can afford.  Get minimal RAM and SSD then add more later as you have more money.  It has a few open slots for extra RAM and SDDs.

I'll be starting university with an Aerospace Engineering major and am looking for a laptop to use for CAD, Matlab, and programming. I currently have a Lenovo YOGA 720-15IKB but I feel like it's nearing its end so I am looking for a new laptop.

Here are some things I'm looking for:

Use: CAD (mainly SolidWorks), maybe CAM as well, Matlab, and programming (C++, Python, and Java).

Engineering Laptop Recommendation

Looking for an all-rounder capable of single and multithreaded coding for data analysis, complicated CAD drawings, graphically intense work (VR simulations), and games when I'm stuck in a hotel on work trips.  Ideally, I want a good human interface when I am using it as a laptop and the option to hook it up to a multimonitor KVM battlestation when I am working at home.  

I had my heart set on getting a Stellaris 15 from Tuxedo computers, then I realized that the keyboard only comes in ISO.  I sent a query to the sales folks at Tuxedo to confirm this: 

&gt; "Unfortunately this is not possible. The two Stellaris are only available as ISO variants. You are welcome to create an individual ISO keyboard variant, but it is unfortunately not possible to get the ANSI variant with the Stellars laptops." 

This feels like a dealbreaker for me.  My current work notebook is a System76, but it looks like they have nothing above 1080p displays.  Same thing with Juno computers.  Are there any alternatives out there that I'm missing that have the power I need with the features I want?

Realistic budget is &lt;$3k, but for the sake of learning, please assume that budget is not an issue.
