I'm looking for a new laptop to replace an ancient one.
Nowadays there are more and more independent manufacturers of Linux laptops (System76, Tuxedo, SlimBook etc...), which is great, but all these are mostly rebranded Clevos that are more or less the same mid-quality build, with minor differences.

I haven't found any that offers a 16:10 (1920x1200) or 3:2 (rare) screen, except the XPS 13 Developer Edition, which is only available in US (at least not available on the UK website), a bit outdated, and a bit too small for me (looking in the 14-15.6 range).
The best ones I found so far are the XPS 15 and the Mate X Pro, but both of these are with Windows only, and although they kind-of work with Linux, I'd prefer to put my money on a brand that supports and promotes Linux (Dell tries to, in the US at least, but too limited).
Lenovo has some interesting ones, but again nothing without Windows in the UK...

  As a result, the temperate is always between 60-70C and results in fan running nearly all the time. This will also significantly reduce the life of laptop.  2b) When not connected to charger, There is no over clocking (Good!) but CPU still keeps running at almost full power of 2.0 GHz and this reduces battery life to barely 4 hours (screen brightness 80)

Both 2a and 2b point to crappy software by Lenovo and crappy updates that have failed to make any dent.

 And again, for those that want to purchase this device or just get more information over at Lenovo's website, I'm going to drop a link in the video description below. Now I've been using this extensively for the past two and a half weeks since that unboxing and first look video and I've come to a few conclusions. I'm really liking this 12th gen processor. You're seeing a nice year over year increase in performance, especially the multi-core performance

 I think it's one of the biggest Achilles heel of the 12th Gen Alder Lake processors so far here in 2022, especially the P Series. But other than that, the performance is a big gain year over year over the Gen 9. So of course, this 12th Gen Intel processor kicks the hell out of the 11th Gen. There's no question, especially when it comes to both single and multicore performance, this really shines

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 9 (2021) Review

I recently found this Thinkpad rabbit hole and, as I'm also in the need of some cheap lightweight laptop, I want to give this world a try. I need something cheap and lightweight. Because of the lightweight aspect it should also have usb-c so I don't have to carry another chonky charger. After some research I think the Lenovo X1 Carbon (5gen+ ?)

 The X1 Carbon comes in at just roughly 1.13kg or about 2.5lbs. Slip it in the back and you might not even realise it's in there
