I'm going to ask the store to take the treadmill back. They have a replacement in stock. I'm a little shaken, though, and starting to distrust Life Fitness. I tried a used Life Fitness F3 and that too spontaneously shut off after 3 minutes of moderate running (may have been 8 years old with no maintenance- it did trip the breaker in the seller's house).

I'd rule out the Life F3 - its really overpriced for what you get. The TT8 for a similar price offers a way sturdier/heavier frame (a good thing), bigger motor, higher weight capacity and better warranty - excellent value. Buy the Technogym MyRun if you are really amped up on using their wellness app...otherwise theres nothing special about it. I just installed one (Iama service tech) and was kind of surprised how mediocre it was compared to other home treadmills.

As long as you have faith in the reseller and they have or can point you to reputable local technicians for maintenance/issues I'd say go for it. I wanted new, so I settled for an entry level Life Fitness F3.One month so far and love it (60+ miles/week between2 people).
