Friends I met on Xbox years ago from across the country made the switch to PC, knowing I couldn’t afford it they surprised me with this today!

 it's a very thin part, and if you press on the wheel, it can break. Or, even if you use the wheel normally, it can shear off because of the rotational force- the torque- so, torsional shear fracture.  I'm going to see if I can maybe glue this little hexagonal rod back to the big volume wheel, and try to use it. I'll update this review if I can fix it

  Key points: 1) Make sure to dip the broken ends in acetone, to give them a nice coating. A brush might work too. I tried using Q-tips, but they didn't put a good enough coat onto the pieces to create a good bond. 2) You'll know you've applied an okay-ish amount if you can stick one part back to the other, and they stay together

 As others have mentioned, the secondary characters on the keys don't really light up and some of the keys seem to be brighter than others, regardless of the brightness setting. I did not originally want a backlit keyboard, so poor backlighting does not affect the functionality of the keyboard for me, but I thought it was worth mentioning for others who are specifically looking for backlit keys. The only real annoyance the backlighting creates for me is the OCD part of me that can't stand things that are not uniform, but appear to have been intended to be uniform. At a very minimum, the poor backlighting makes the keyboard look a little cheap--which is not good for a product that carries a $150 price tag

Starting Point  I've had this keyboard for just over a week and feel like I can give it an honest review. I'd like to start with a few things to keep in mind while reading my review: 1. This is my first mechanical keyboard. The only previous experience that I have with them is a Cherry POS keyboard that was used at a retailer I worked for

 Backlighting is slightly inconsistent and is faded out on some keys 2. There is a strange "pinging" sound that I get when I type quickly 3. The wrist rest feels kind of cheap compared to the rest of the keyboard  Verdict: I recommend the keyboard to anyone who wants a cherry brown switch mechanical keyboard and won't mind some inconsistent backlighting. I give the keyboard 4 stars because it works as I expected it to but it didn't blow me away

Been lurking around the community for about a month or so and finally received my first board, a Ducky One 2 Mini Bon Voyage.  I love it to pieces. I really want to try and get a separate numpad with matching caps.  Anyone have suggestions about where to get something like that?  

The dream is that they could chain together but I realize that might be a limitation of the Ducky since it only has one port.

Is it super dumb to start with the DROP + OLKB PREONIC KEYBOARD MX KIT V3? For context- never used a mechanical, never built my own keyboard, since WFH I realized I desperately need a compact clicky-clacky keyboard, and I absolutely love the idea of the grid keys. I'm also obsessed with the look and haven't found as nice of a purple one anywhere else yet. Is it stupid to start with a kit if I literally have no idea what I'm doing? Does anyone do prebuilds of them? Thank you so much for entertaining a noob's dumb questions.

Hello, I've been looking around for a while and haven't seen anyone ask this question, is the instant65 PCB a good PCB? to me it seems like it could be a bit outdated and I could look for something else. Now if I were to buy any PCB right now it would have to be an easy one to do because this would be my first ACTUAL build, so I would have to buy a soldering iron (which I don't mind) . I was thinking about getting the practise 65 v2 keyboard and was wondering if this would fit into it or if I should just use the practise's PCB that come with it, that really the only question I have overall, the only reason i thought getting the instant 65 PCB was because its hot swappable, so please tell me if it would be a good option for a beginner like me. :)

Hi everyone - I used to have Cherry Blue switches and loved the tactile feel / clickiness of the keyboard. I'm looking to switch to a new keyboard for office use, and want to retain the "feel" of the keyboard, without as much of the audible clickiness.

From researching, it looks like my options would be Matias Quiet Clicks, MX Clears, or Topre Switches. My understanding is that the Matias switches would be hardest to find, the MX Clears are softer but not that quiet, and Topre Switches won't have the tactile bump.

Are there any other switches I should be looking at, or considerations to take into account? Thank you!

I've been thinking about a Keychron K4 with either LK optical or keychron optical brown switches. What I'm actually looking for is for:

\-100-105 if possible (still taking the k4 with 96% if nothing else better swows)

\-tactile

\-hot swappable board

\-backlight

\-ISO layout (preferable spanish but I can swap the keykaps later on)

\-good build quality

The k4 ISO isn' comming for about a month so I'd like to have some other options. With this configuration the keyboard is around 90$ or 75€ so I'd like to have some similar pricing too but I have not seen any good competitors so far.

I know the K4 has bluetooth n stuff but I don't need it at all tbh so we can take that out.

(No problem on lubing or moding the switches if needed btw)

Been lurking here for a few weeks. I recently fell down the MK rabbit hole... and hard.

I had a Corsair K95 with MX Speed Silver switches that I really enjoyed for a long time, but massive clunky thing was getting very old and taking up way too much desk space. I recently ordered a DROP CTRL and so far am loving the chassis. The TKL is what I always wished my keyboard always was, perfect size. 

Here's my mistake: I ordered the CTRL with MX Browns. I wanted to see what the "tactile" feeling was all about after coming from the speed silvers, and I don't think I like the browns much at all. They pretty much just feel like they're getting caught or snagged on something when pressed. Everything I read is people going with much heavier springs and linear switches. Is that where I should try to move to? I think I'm going back to something linear, but not sure what to go with. Suggestions to swap into my CTRL?

Additionally, The stabs that come on the CTRL sound AWFUL. My K95 sounded better from the factory, and was considerably cheaper. I ordered some grease and hoping a little modification will make a big difference. Should I be looking at replacing the stabs? Or just a little grease and band-aiding will do?

I want to find a full (including numpad) mechanical keyboard that is as quiet as humanly possible and has macros on the left side. I currently use a [Razer Anansi](https://www2.razer.com/eu-en/gaming-keyboards-keypads/razer-anansi) for reference. It's not mechanical afaik, but still really loud.   


I like the macros to the left. It's super useful. I have a streamdeck, but that requires moving my hand across my desk whereas I can just move my pinky over on my current keyboard.

Hoping to make a wireless keyboard, but new to the these micro-controllers, I have heard of the nice!nano and belieive it is capable of bluetooth connections but it seems to be sold out everytwhere, is the Elite-C (v4) also capable or does anyone have any reccomendations? Hi, I'm planning in the market for a tenkeyless mechanical gaming keyboard that is under 100. I'd prefer for there to be a wrist-rest but I wouldn't mind if I need to get my own. I was previously looking at the gmmk tenkeyless and the wrist rest but I'd prefer something a little cheaper if available otherwise I wouldn't mind spending a little more for it. I'm fairly new to keyboard shopping and I'm going off of what my friends have told me / what I've tried and like. Thanks for the help in advance!

Im located in Europe and Im looking to buy a hot-swappable TKL or 75%(ish?) keyboard with RGB to drop NK Sherbets or BOX Jades in it, now the only option at a semi-affordable price that I know of is the GMMK keyboard... so my question is, what other barebone keyboard options do I have in Europe? please note it has to be specifically in Europe, I dont want to order from US or China, I literally just dont have the patience. Just got a mechanical keyboard with a detachable cable, USB-C to normal USB (USB-C on the keyboard end). Are these special cables, or would any normal similar cable work? Would like to use the keyboard on multiple computers and would want to leave the cables and just move the keyboard itself around

I ordered a Ducky One TKL off MechanicalKeyboards back in June. The estimated pre-order delivery time was July 1. Then August. Then October.

It's nearly 6 months late, so I'm going to cancel, but is this normal for this site? I don't love sucking overlord Jeff Bezo's cock but at least shit shows up off Amazon

I'm looking to buy a low-profile keyboard and I can't decide between the Keychron K3 or the Hexgears X-1 v2, or ??? Bluetooth is highly preferred, leaning towards brown switches, I like a bit of RGB, and I prefer the 75% layout. The K3 isn't available yet, but I'm not in a rush. The X-1 is a bit bigger than I need, but it's still going to be a lot smaller than my current keyboard.

I'd really appreciate any thoughts on this, or what other keyboards I should be checking out.

I want to build or buy a new board, but I'm not sure what I should get based on what I like and dont.

I currently have few boards, all with either blue or brown switches. I tried blacks and they were way too heavy, and reds were way too light. I don't really seem to like linear switches.

* Anne Pro w/ gat blues (my daily)
* HAVIT TKL w/ kailh "low profile" blues (i love these switches but damn this thing is ugly)
* TADA68 w/ gat blues (even with the same switches, this thing just doesn't feel as good as the Anne Pro)
* Magicforce 68 w/ gat browns (i like the tactility, but the switch is a little bit too light)

Ever since COVID really took off in the states in March, I have been working from home, flexible hours (day, night, whatever). My office is right across the hall from my kid's room, and my Anne Pro with blues is LOUD AS HELL.

The Kailh "low profile" switches on the HAVIT give me a faster WPM than any other - I love the higher resistance at the top of the keystroke, and the super short bottom-out distance. I want to recreate this feeling on a keyboard with normal profile keycaps.

For switches, I am looking for something that feels as close to a blue as possible, without a click. I just like having a bunch of tactility near the top of the switch that prevents accidental keypresses, but then easily bottoming out after that. What switch would you recommend that is affordable that offers a quiet, tactile experience, with more resistance than gat browns? Kailh Box Browns? MX Clears? Something else?

For shortening the distance to  bottoming out, I guess I could just double up on o-rings and make it really short?

I am open to buying a hotswap DIY kit and some switches - I just don't have time in my life to be soldering and lubing switches. Any suggestions on a build?
