I wish I took records seriously enough to warrant the overhead this TT requires - there's no cover (really? is it that hard to make one?) and the motor is simply placed on the surface below it, which is too low by default and causes the silly rubber band to come off the turntable. The sound quality is high, though, which makes up for it somewhat.

High quality and low convenience...

 In fact, even as I stood right in front of the Marantz, I really struggled to be able to hear the motor running. A big reason for the motor being quiet is that the Marantz features a motor that sits underneath the base of the turntable. And so, if installed properly, there shouldn't be any noise or vibration feedback that you can hear once you turn on the motor. Many don't allow you to change the speed at the click of a button

 So you just need to be extra mindful of not only touching the motor, but also the pressure you use to turn the motor on and off. Overall, I really, really did like the Marantz TT-15 S1. It's a beautiful looking turntable, it sounds great, and it's absolutely dead silent when the motor is running. At the end of the day, this turntable will provide you with great value for your money

 The first set of padding includes things like the tonearm, cartridge, the motor, and more. As you dig further into the box, you see the acrylic platter, along with the felt mat underneath that. And at the bottom of the box is the turntable plinth, which is made out of a solid frosted acrylic. Like the Clear Audio Concept, this Marantz turntable goes for over $1,000, and you can likely expect to pay about $1,500 for it on average

 Now before, I mentioned how incredibly whisper quiet the motor is, and that's true. It's absolutely dead silent. What I didn't mention, however, is that the motor sits within a hole in the back of the plinth of your turntable, and on top of the motor sits the motor pulley. Now the motor needs to sit very, very carefully within that hole, and you don't want it to touch any sides of the plinth because you don't want any unwanted vibrations to be transmitted

Mids are clear and focused without being in your face (a pet peeve of mine). *  Marantz TT-15S1: I'll admit I partially bought this for looks, but I'm more than happy with the sound too. It's quite clean/clear without overdoing the treble.

This is a nice piece of equipment. The cartridge is under-priced in this setup. If you were to buy this cartridge separately, it retails for approximately $900. I think, when you realize that the Marantz TT-15S1 costs approximately $1,500, the fact that it comes with a quality tonearm and a pricey cartridge means this is one of the best high-end bargains you can get when it comes to buying a turntable

Nice entry level audiophile turntable

 This turntable is actually made by Clear Audio for Marantz, but it's really good value for the money. I'll tell you a little bit about it here, it is a frosted acrylic plinth, frosted acrylic platter. There's some videos on YouTube actually, some guys put LED lights under it and the frosted acrylic just kind of catches the light and glows and they change their turntables a bunch of colors. It's kind of cool, so you can do that if you want

 We've got an aluminum wand tone arm. The cartridge it comes with is a really nice piece, it's a moving magnets Virtuoso cartridge from Clear Audio, that's made out of ebony, it's a wood cartridge. Output is 3.6 mV, so good output, it should work on any phono input or phono stage that you have, unlike some of the moving coil cartridges that require some better phono stages or outboard phono stages

 There's a seamless silicone belt and it comes with two of them in the package. It also comes with some white gloves too if you don't want to fingerprint the thing up while you're putting it together. The turntable does come all disassembled, so you have to put the cartridge on yourself, you have to put the platter on, put the pulley on the motor, you have to level and mount the tone arm, set your tracking force with the weight back here. So you do have to do all that

 You add those together and you get a whole lot more than $1499, so it's a really high value package. If you're looking for a turntable that you don't have to upgrade, this is a great way to go, because it's good enough. It's the first, what I feel like would be considered Hi-Fi turntable, so it's going to give you Hi-Fi performance for just that entry point price wise. So really cool one to check out

I own a play a lot of vinyl this was not the turntable for me the performance was excellent however it’s very fussy and needs constant tweaking the supplied cartridge breaks easily and is pricey to replace (new stylus 300 dollars) after a year of constant adjustment I gave up traded in for a rega planar 3 which after initial set up I haven’t had to do a thing with if you’re heavy into vinyl I’d move on

Not for everbody

 The counterweight on the TT-15 adjusts very, very easily and it feels like you can get it dialed in right where you want it. On this tonearm, despite being anodized aluminum, very nice to look at and very functional in its design, you'll also notice that it's a top mount for the cartridge. This makes it really easy to put almost any cartridge you want on this table. And finally, one of my most favorite things, the overall aesthetic

 Going all the way back to the 70s, they've always been one of the best options in the world of integrated amps, receivers, CD players, and of course, turntables. The first thing I noticed about the TT-15 and playing around with it is how everything just works together so well. For example, the platter, it looks great, but it also has a really good weight to it. You want a little heft on a turntable because you want it to be steady

 So when we go to play and I go to cue up this record, notice how that cue follows my finger just about perfectly rather than just simply drop off and lower it down on its own. Buttery smooth in its operation which seems to be a theme all across this table. This can run in either 33 and a half RPM or 45. So if you own a few different varieties of vinyl at different speeds, you're covered here

 Obviously, with any turntable, you need to pair it with something. And Morantz's 8000 series, which we've been covering lately, so be sure to check the links down below, because we'll be talking about the PM8006 AMP and ND8006 CD player, these all make such a perfect stack. They're all designed to work so well together, and because they're all priced at nearly identical price points, the choices are obvious. This turntable, wired into a completely analog integrated AMP, like this 8006, with already a great built-in phono, ready to receive this table, you're going to get that classic analog warmth, that Class A-B charm to go with it from the 8006, and a system, purpose-built from the ground up, to play nice, make for an excellent combination, and just give you an all-around good time
