 It boasts up to 100 hours of playback at low volume and is covered by a 1 year warranty. In this video I'll do an in-depth review of the Minirig 3 and compare it to a few other bluetooth speakers from Sonos, B&O and Marshall to see how it stacks up. I'll also show you how stereo pairing and the subwoofer perform, talk about a few rough spots I ran into along the way and show you these super cool 3D printed stands my friend made for me. A single Minirig 3 retails for £140 in the UK or $180 on their Amazon store here in the states which definitely puts it in the premium category

 It includes a zippered travel case with a unique mesh top so you can use the speakers in the case for maximum protection. You can put the cords at the bottom of the case for travel. There's a loop on the case for hanging and they also give you a carabiner and lanyard. In the box they include a 1 eighth inch cable or 3

 Here it is next to a few things you might have in your kitchen for comparison. When you add a sub, you end up with an extremely full range system. It's also extremely loud, achieving up to 95 decibels which is easily 10 decibels or twice as loud as any other bluetooth speaker I have. It has smart limiters to avoid clipping and distortion, but really keep the dynamics, and that works exceptionally well

 I love that it includes a powerful 5-band EQ in the app. The stereo pairing and link-up mode is really great, and it really creates a modular wireless system that's pretty unique. I also appreciate that there's a pair of these wired 3.5mm jacks on the side, which allow you to chain inputs and outputs in all sorts of different creative ways

Minirig 3 + Sub Review: Tiny, powerful, audiophile Bluetooth speaker system

 So I'm still not sure I ever connected them "properly" (it seems to work in both). It says "high" and "low" gain in the manual, but honestly it didn't seem to make much difference in mine.  * The little case is nice, except that it doesn't actually have enough room to carry the power cable(s), so you're left wondering what to do with your cable if you're traveling anywhere.  * The cable system, with the pass through USB, while clever, is pretty ugly

 Though having to use the app to do so is annoying (the phone already has a volume control, guys!).  * Also, once paired, the MINIRIG is a bit of a bluetooth bully. If you manually select Disconnect from an iPhone bluetooth menu, it will disconnect, for a second, but then it's back! If the MINIRIG is still on, there doesn't seem to be a way to actually tell it "no thank you, I'm good" without just forgetting the device entirely, which means you have to re-pair it next time you DO want to use it.  * The supporting app supports doing some interesting things like adjusting curves and whatnot, but frankly this too is trying to be more clever than it needs to be

 It certainly sounds quite good. It doesn't "fill" the room as much as various YouTube reviews seem to imply, but it's certainly better than any other Bluetooth speaker I've heard, especially with the optional subwoofer attached.  My main complaint is just that someone seems to be trying to be too clever with the software:  * First, of all, it doesn't just detect/pair like a normal Bluetooth speaker if you have any cables plugged in (like the aforementioned subwoofer).  * Once you do manage to pair it, the default settings are such that you can't even use it on a table/desk nearby because it's set so loud

I periodically host events with friends where I want some "room-filling" sound without lugging around a huge system. Looking around, people seemed to think this was the best one available, so I gave it a shot. It certainly sounds quite good. It doesn't "fill" the room as much as various YouTube reviews seem to imply, but it's certainly better than any other Bluetooth speaker I've heard, especially with the optional subwoofer attached

Quality construction/sound, but software is annoying

75 inches. So the bolt is actually holding the speaker to the grill here. And now to the input, output, jack ports and to the charging port there. Wow, this is difficult

 It does sound great, it does sound loud. The only criticism I have is the way the speaker is pointing upwards and as you're maybe aware every speaker out there with the drivers are either pointing forward or surround the sound but not up to the sky. It doesn't make much difference if you've got the volume up but if you're listening to it at low volume you will note you are basically facing this and you don't see the driver if you're sat in front of it. You're just looking at it like that and the sound is going up

 This speaker is capable of 40 watts RMS which is a lot of power for such a small speaker. Let me just put it against the speaker you recognise so you know the size. That's the Marshall Emberton and that's the JBL Flip 6. As you can see it's more or less the same size if you put them together

 Disconnect the battery. I'm carefully pulling it down. Okay. And that looks like it's the Bluetooth aerial

Hi I am looking for bluetooth speakers. 

I value the sound quality a lot.
I want to buy 2 speakers and couple them and have true stereo sound. The speakers should cost up to 150€ each, so 300€ in total. They need to be water resistant and should weight under 1.5kg each.

I would love Bluetooth 5.0 and would love Multipoint support, but I can live without it.

Are there any suggestions? I am looking at the Sonos Roam, Tribit StormBox Pro, Teufel Rockster GO and the Soundcore Motion+ right now.

Portable Pair of Bluetooth speakers with true stereo

 My friends and I were excited to use them at a party and they lost connection so many times that we just turned them off. My Tribit speaker is much more reliable, sounds nearly as good (though not as loud), and is 1/4th the cost of one Minirig. Sadly sending these back.

Check out Anker Motion Plus. I ordered 4 speakers from Amazon and it sounded better than all of them except the $700 vifa.  The vifa had a wider and more airy soundstage. Anker sounded as good as the $500 B&O to me. Anker has an EQ app you can use to tune it. The mids are slightly veiled and recessed but it has great detail and balance.  If there is a better sounding speaker for $300 or even $500 I’d like to know. Heck even $700 if it’s a significant upgrade in open soundstage.

I have a friend who has a Bose SoundLink III, and I thought of actually buying it, but upon doing some research - I found out that BOSE isn't a good choice in terms of price/quality. I'm not sure whether this is a sentiment that's shared by many because to me they sounded great, but if theres anything better in a similar price range (200-300$) then I'd be very grateful!

I'd like to buy a great portable/wireless speaker as a bday present.

 The MINIRIG app then causes interference with Spotify, Apple Music, or whatever streaming service you are using, and the stereo dropout will become a frequent problem. All in all, their use can be very frustrating and honestly make you pick up a different speaker at times to not be bothered with the hassle. All is forgiven when they do work, and you hear the great sound. After 2 years they finally got their splitter cables back in stock to connect directly with your phone in wired mode more easily, so that is a plus

The Minirig 3 by itself is pretty bad value unless you want to pair it with one more and buy a woofer later. Motion Plus or the Beosound A1 2nd gen would be a better purchase vs the Minirig.

Since you talk about wanting clear mids and treble you can go for the Tribit Maxsound Plus. It's much smaller than the Motion Plus and much cheaper than the Minirig 3 which, by the way, distorts its bass with some basslines.

The Maxsound, size and bass wise, is similar to a JBL Flip 4, but has better treble. The flip 5 has a bit more bass than the 4, Tribit

I'm in the market for a relatively compact speaker to carry around when traveling.  I can't help but be curious how much better off I'd be spending the extra 100 bucks for the mini rig.

Getting 2 mini rigs or even a sub is unlikely to ever happen due to size and price requirements. So strictly speaking one motion+ vs one mini rig 3....

Is the motion plus a 5 and the mini rig a 9 (out of 10)? Or are they much closer in sound quality?

I primarily listen to edm, and appreciate clear mids, beautiful vocals, and trebel more than anything.


Also if anyone has an opinion on the jbl flip 5...im pretty sure the motion+ trounces it but I wouldn't mind hearing confirmation of this.

Motion+ vs mini rig 3...just how much better does it sound?

So I bought this speaker as a replacement for another speaker I had bought that came broken right out of the box, so I decided to use my return money to go all out and get a super nice speaker. I was absolutely impressed with the sound quality and pleased with the sturdiness. Someone else's review, either on this site or Minirig's, said it was sturdy enough for a 200 lb man to stand on. I didn't test this, but it is made from steel and feels solid

Excellent sound quality and sturdiness, not so much the battery life.
