 Here I am listening to Miles Davis and this is in the CNET listing room where I hear digital music almost exclusively. In hearing this classic record, this ultimate Miles Davis signature piece in analog over this turntable with a MoFi cartridge and the MoFi phonoprint, which is designed by Tim DiParavaccini, it's just luscious. It's so much better than listening to this stuff on digital, this same music. It's just more human

 I played a lot of music today over the last few hours with this turntable. It seems very, very well executed. I do have a few little nitpicks that the anti-skate string where it attaches to the tone arm, it isn't that secure and it flopped off a couple of times. It does come with a dust cover, which I don't believe in using dust covers with turntables when you're playing records

 But basically, hey, it's not a project turntable. I mean most, let's say, affordable turntables in some version or another tend to be project turntables or turntables made by project for other people. And here it is, a US made affordable $999 turntable that has some really beautifully executed design features. So this is definitely a thumbs up

What are the pros and cons of the Rega P3 (new style)

For anyone interested I went with the MoFi Studiodeck and Ultraphono combo. I got a good deal on both, from Music Direct.

I was about to pull the trigger on a new Rega P3 with Elys 2 cart, but then started second guessing and looking at a MoFi StudioDeck with Studiotracker cart. I know the Elys 2 doesn’t get a whole lot of love, but haven’t seen a whole lot on the Studiotracker. Pricewise Elys 2 is $300 and the Studiotracker is $200, so I guess the difference in TT price is closer to $300.

I like the classic look of the Rega with its concealed drive belt and glass platter, but not sure how much I love the pre-attached RCA cables. I don’t know why I don’t like that as those cables are likely better than what I would buy anyway, but it does, lol.  The look of the MoFi has really grown on me though, but I don’t like the style of the motor mount and exposed belt that looks similar to a U-Turn. It seems very solidly built from a fit and finish standpoint. Its 10” tonearm seems like a good selling point, but the Rega RB330 seems to get great reviews.

All things considered is the MoFi a $200 better turn table and worth the upgrade, or should I just stick with my initial thought of getting the Rega?

Is a MoFi StudioDeck worth a $200 premium over Rega P3?

. broke the player down to trouble shoot and figured a little white lithium can't hurt. Off to sound of music I was running. I only have a few hours running so there’s going to be more break in and sound blossoming, so I’m excited and not looking back at the 80’s turntable

 I recommend the mobile fidelity. Gave the 4 stars because nothing is perfect, and having the “high end inverted bearing” seize shouldn’t happen with limited run time. Now go buy some vinyl, give it a cleaning, nicely place the needle down, and let your ears take you on a trip.

 So clean I would use the term sterile. Doesn’t sound like a turntable more CD sound. It was definitely competitive to the vpi well only if you measure by left channel only operation. I ran a few discs thru studiodeck and like what I hear

 I run an outlaw audio retro receiver with a Jolida fusion tube amp thru zu audio mission cables, to zu audio omen bookshelves, and an outlaw audio and definitive technology super cube subwoofers. Big sub for slow low end and small punchy for the upper low end. I like the sound and can listen for hours. Looking forward to many more hours of playback

I'm hearing things in recordings that I'm quite familiar with that I've never heard before, Hi end is crisp mids are right there and the bass is solid

In m y opinion, in order to get anything better, you would have to spend five grand or so

mobile fidelity studio deck

I can go on record and say that this turntable, supposedly entry model for MOFI, is much better. I did direct comparison with these models having the same Denon DL-103 cart with these direct-drive turntables. Vinyl I compared are Close to the Edge by Yes (UK A1B1 and US George Pyros PR Press) and Bill Evans Sunday at the Village Vanguard UD1S 45rpm. The music simply feels much more intimate and alive

 I am very happy with this turntable and cannot imagine how good the Ultradeck would sound like.

Being Japanese, I worshiped Japanese brands for the last 35 years and of course turntables like Denon 1300s and Technics 1200s.

Originally bought a Uturn Orbit. For the value, it was great. It made me realize the real sound quality in vinyl. But, the motor started clicking, and the replacement I found out was made in China

I wanted made in USA, and realized the Mofi Studio offered, adjusting legs, 10 inch arm, better platter, gold terminal, grounding connection, sunken label dent in platter, etc

This deck was everything I was looking for in a great manual turntable. Paired with a great phono preamp on a musical fidelity m6si amplifier, it sounds phenomenal with anything I put in it. Speaker are JBl 4309 studio monitors. The MM cartridge sounds as good, if not better than the Ortofon black on my other deck
