Does anyone have recommendations for reasonably lightweight tents that are very easy to set up  for a single person? Other considerations are double wall material, and full weather and bug protection with waterproof flooring. 

Please don't shoot me, but I'm willing to sacrifice a \*little\* weight for more protection and being beginner-friendly that doesn't need a lot of knowledge on how to adjust for 10 different specific conditions. However, being a single person, I really want to keep it as light as possible. Thank you in advance.

I&#39;ve been looking at UL tent reviews from SectionHiker and OutdoorGearLab. However, none of them really fit the bill.

The Durston Mid-1 sounds excellent, but I read that a non-freestanding tent might be harder to adjust correctly without getting wet. Also, it is sold out until Sept/Oct.

The Nemo Hornet 2 sounds okay, but I read that it isn&#39;t very durable for windy nights.

I have been wanting to get myself a 2 person tent for solo trips (and the occasional trip with my GF) for a while now. 

In terms of criteria: 

1. My budget is somewhere in the region of £200 - £400 ($280 - $560)... but I would be happy to fork out a bit extra if it is well worth the difference. Also worth nothing that import duty to the UK is pretty brutal so ordering from overseas would require a slightly lower budget.
2. The lighter the total weight, the better - something at or below the 1.6kg (3.5lbs) mark would be really ideal, as I do plan to take it out on solo trips and would like to save weight anywhere I can. However, I would still want something pretty weather proof so that I could stay warm and dry through windy and rainy nights.
3.  I am 6'4 and typically take a 48L pack with me, so an interior length of at least 215cm would be wanted, as well as room within vestibule(s) for backpacks incase there is rain throughout the night or something

I have tried out my friends MSR Elixir 2, although this tent is a little short for length and a bit on the heavier side.

I really like the looks of the Big Agnes Tiger Wall UL2, although the tent + footprint comes in at a bit above my budget. 

I would love a Durston X-Mid 2 but these aren’t likely to be available until Fall 2021, and I’m really keen to get some backpacking done between now and then. 

I’d really appreciate any help and/or opinions on some other options. I have scoured a few websites now but cannot find much in the way of valuable reviews or user experience! TIA

Lightweight 2P Tents - Looking for suggestions

Amazing spacious 2 person tent with great features.

If you like this size, you will like the Nemo Dagger 2p better. It's about half the weight of the aurora, but it costs more. I will say, weight matters a lot.

I’ve done lots of day hikes and have an interest in overnighting so I’m just researching all the gear. Is this an okay tent for a beginner backpacker?

He explained to me that having room for your pack and to spread things out if needed, as well as being able to chill comfortably in a tent is very important, I also need room for my dog. I used a semi-freestanding 2 person on the AT just recently and I definitely appreciate the space with my stuff and dog, but my tent weighs in at 5lbs, so I am in search of a UL 2. After a lot of research I have my eye on the semi-free standing Big Agnes Tiger Wall UL2. I mentioned my tent pick to my hiking partner (who is a hammocker), but she does not think I need a 2 person and should consider a Zpack or X-Mid 1, because of hikers she's met with them. I've been in one person ULs and they are very small (for a person and dog) and I have read single walls can cause you and your stuff to get saturated with condensation if touching the walls. I also don't really like my hiking sticks right in the doorway and the few extra ounces of tent poles is not significant enough to sway my decision. 
But I don't want to be short-sighted, so what do you think about 2 vs 1 person and single walls?

A veteran backpacker told me to always use a 2 person tent

 It is heavy for a backpacking tent but if you split the weight between two people it’s really not that bad. You can drop some weight by getting more lightweight tent stakes as well if that’s a issue. The only thing I wish they did different was give you two zippers instead of just one for each of the doors. It’s still not that big of a deal though

It's been pointed out to me that my 10 year old Marmot 1+ tent is old school tech (weighing in at 5lb+).

I've been looking at what's available out there for the past couple of weeks and I have some questions.

Currently comparing (for the sake of the argument):

I love the idea of a modular shelter like the Silex, but living and hiking in the PNW we're pretty much guaranteed a downpour at some point. Since there's no bathtub do you get water ingress?

I'm also curious about the setup with non free standing tents. How do you pitch them when you're on an elevated wooden pad?

Finally, what's the setup time of a traditional free standing tent like Big Agnes vs Silex? Why would you consider one vs the other given the price and weight are nearly the same?

Would appreciate any feedback/thoughts from the kind folks here.
